This song actually makes me cry a little. It just gives of a sense of tired futility, like a person near their deathbed who can only shake and desperately try to speak as he feels his life and self slip away. This truly is the song appropriate for Lancelot, the poor fool, desperately wanting to be punished for his crimes against the woman he loved even more than Guinevere, and yet he died alone, weak and knowing that at the heart of it all, he along with Mordred were the reasons behind the fall of Camelot and the Death of the True King of the Britons.

its pretty much him superimposing the real myth with the info we have from the series. That's pretty much all we can do is mix the fact with the legends from the myths. It's also the reason why Lancelot can be summoned as a zerker and a saber. During his time as a KotRT he upheld the true values of a knight. When he feel from grace and was excommunicated from the knights and he fell to insanity for a period, once he regained his sanity he became a monk and never spoke again. Hence why he has madness enhancement EX and it takes Artoria for him to even form what little words he could.

@Alex Pluskett If you watch the miniseries "Einzbern Consultation Room" it hints quite a bit he had more than platonic feelings for Arturia, being one of the few in Camelot who knew "his" (read: Arturia's) secret. Now if you take this and throw in that the original mythos made it a bit unclear as to which of the two, Lancelot or Gwenevere, were the instigator in their adultery and feelings of it, it also implies that he was trying to give Gwen a release from lying by ironically taking up another lie. Gwen was basically the woman he could have and if discovered, he would be punished as he wished for betraying his king and friend. If he were to try and pursue Arturia, it would have resulted in her being de-throned if her secret got out.

The most memorable thing I will remember about Lancelot as Berserker is of how he utterly said FUCK YOU twice to Gilgamesh in Fate/Zero first by bruising his ego in the SaberxLancer fight and then by shooting him down and then not even acknowledging his presence after seeing Saber on the river its like even with the intense insanity he's still as completely capable of using his full abilities as he did in his life

Lancelot probably STILL would've won in a typical Grail war. He's a Knight of the Round, and even the weakest of them can beat the shit out of a normal servant.

He just got unlucky that EVERYONE summoned was in the same league as him and he had a below average master.

@Anthony Allmond No. The STRONGEST is Gawain or Arthur, Lancelot is the most SKILLED. In terms of strength, the living Lancelot most likely wasn't THAT much stronger than a common person. He just wields a magic sword, and does so with abnormal precision and finesse even amongst Master swordsmen.

However, as a Servant, due to how exalted he is and how famous he is- he boasts power far beyond any normal person. However, compared to Gawain, Lancelot is still only average in terms of power output and raw stats.

To be fair, Kariya and Lancelot/Berserker were both holding each other back. Zouken probably did that on purpose (likes watching Kariya suffer). Berserker class takes massive amounts of energy, is known to kill their masters on occasion, and is exceedingly hard to control. Kariya couldn't give Berserker all the mana he needed to overpower everyone. Berserker strained Kariya to the point of making him deteriorate much more quickly. They should have had different partners. Very bad match.

His fate was written long before Zero. In the VN they have a little note when describing the Berserker class, and it says every master of Berserker has died from mana consumption. Makes me a little sad that Lancelot got done dirty by history meaning he was sort of gimped from the get go.

Broken phantasms dont always cost a huge amount of mana, it really depends on the weapon. It's explicitly stated that caladabolg II, which has rank A power output, actually costs very little mana, which is why archer spams it so much. The main barrier to other servants using BP is the fact that for most servants other than archer their weapon will be permanently destroyed.

True enough, hahaha, plus he's a Heroic Spirit, if I'm correct destroying the world would basically mean destroying himself. He mostly modifies it, the one moment he uses the world destroying ability was when he used it to basically completely own Rider by destroying his Reality Marble. I was pretty sad with the lack of focus on Berserker in Fate/Zero. His backstory and connection to Saber are essential to understand Saber's reasons for wanting herself erased from history.

@8dolfonrunescape Eye of the Mind (True) allows Archer to predict any and all outcomes of the situation in battle. It doesn't just "give him a 1% chance of victory," it allows him to effectively see into the the future and choose the best action that would achieve the greatest result. This is why he leaves so many openings in his attacks, so that he can have the greatest number of results to choose from.

Pretty sure the reason he cannot recreate them is because they are not from this world. He could recreate the King's Sword (Calibur) just fine and that sword was powerful in it's own right. And he can recreate pretty much every sword Gil has in his treasury aside Ea. But Ea is the creation sword and a planet destroyer, it's beyond the scope of men. Excalibur was enchanted by faires and is of Fairie creation, so same rule applies. He kinda has a connection to Ex but the sword would be a dud.

Saber's are really only identified by high strength and the tendency to use swords. Beserkers generally seem to wield no particular type of weapon, though most of them would either be too insane to use it for anything other than smacking you around, or have minimal stat boosts from the insanity.

@TheEponet Nightmare is strong because Soul Edge contains the memories of almost all styles throughout history since its creation, hence Nightmare is also very skilled with knowledge of what any style can do, as well as all the souls Soul Edge has devoured. Fate/Zero Berserker is just skilled with -any- weapon the moment he touches it, even firearms. With his riding skill combined, he was even able to use an F-15J way past its limits by corrupting it. He deflected Gil's Gate of Babylon too. <3

this is correct and is stated in the visual novel (status for archer) but this also holds true for anything he has a close connection to like avalon or calidburn however this only reach their original power since emiya's strongest projections are those that he can replicate the creation process for, in other words how they were made and why as well as the experiences that it has gone through when made, this is why when he projects something like kanshou and bakuya they are incomplete in UBW

Gil vs. Bers would look like this... Gil fires gate and Bers deflects all his weapons and even manages to attack him many times with them. Gil gets angry but doesnt want to use Ea against him, so he attacks with Enkidu. While trying to kill Bers with his gate, Bers grabs Enkidu making it his NP. Bers chains Gil. Gil finaly trys to use Ea but isnt fast enough. The moment that he gets to summon it Aerondight is already buried deep within his chest.

Pure stat and skill wise, Berserker ver. zero is the most powerful servant, with the strength, endurance of A, mana of C, luck of B, and agility of A+. The lack of mana can be cover by the master if the master is good of it. Luck can be backup by his passive skill "Protection of the Fairies". Furthermore, his noble phantasm Arondight can boost all his parameters 1 rank, makes him a brutal killing machine. But of course, stat and skill may not determine a winner

They can be summoned unlimited times. Their soul is stored in The throne(paradise, archive, whatever you call it). What is summoned is a copy of that soul. Saber is an exception cause she never died in the first place and she will not till her 'contract' ends one way or another.

@megadragonblade There is a story where Lancelot defeated a certain knight with a freaking tree branch. This ability stems from that story. It's called "Knight of Honor". It's a natural counter to Gilgamesh's gate, as he can wield all the freaking weapons from Gil's gate and use them as if it were his favorite weapon.

As a general rule, a weapon traced by archer is a rank down from the original while a broken phantasm amps up the atk power of the weapon used by one rank so it cancels out. However, the rank-down rule only applies to weapons that archer insta-replicates just by looking at it, it does not apply to weapons of his own design, weapons that he has modified(caladbolg II), or weapons he uses reinforcement on(kansho and bakuya). Those can and do exceed the original's power.

UBW is the embodiment of of his soul/ inner world and has stored every sword, spear etc that EMIYA has ever seen and is able to trace.You could throw inside a milion Eas and he still wouldnt be able to trace it.Nothing that falls/stays inside UBW remains there cause everything except Emiya is a foreign object.When the RM deactivates everything returns to the real world.

@PriestJaykob Knight of honor "corrutpts" things with Berserker's prana, that's explicitly stated in the novels, and that's why a clash with Lancer would release the improvised NP. In the UBW route of the visual novel (5th war, of course), Ilya tries to use a command spell to withdraw Heracles while he is chained, and Gil explains that Enkidu forbids magical intervention of any kind. I am so looking forward to seeing animated the second Gil VS Berserker. The sheer awesome will destroy Fuyuki ^^

@MrQvmateo I wouldn't use Wiki as a source if possible but you are right. Shirou is capable of firing off his blades. The use of Nine Lives was done because of the grafting of Archer's arm because of the shared link they have. It's what allows him to use Archer's powers in HF in the first place and utilize those abilities. Likewise in UBW, Shirou is able to gain more experience while fighting Archer.

Ea is the sword, Enuma Elish is the attack name. Gilgamesh doesn't use it at full power because, as you saw in his battle against Rider where he does, it's an Anti-World Weapon that shatters reality. Kariya also ran out of prana to supply Berserker, which is one of the main reasons why Berserker has no chance of winning. However, Berserker is an equal, and arguably better, sword fighter than Saber and he possesses Arondight, which is an unholy sword that is Excalibur's equal.

Even so i don't believe that Archer beats Berserker easily, I think it all boils down to if Archer can kill Berserker 12 times fast enough without Berserker getting close enough to do damage to Archer cuz if even grazing attacks does damage,1 hit would probably be fatal. And the fact that they were fighting inside Ilyas castle, Berserker was clearly at an advantage.

@henryhenriquez Well just to clarify Archer isn't that overpowered in UBW because Rho Aias is stronger when blocking a thrown weapon (like striking spear of death flight) but even then it had trouble blocking Lancer's spear and Archer had to pour all of his remaining mana into strengthening it. From that, you can assume that even if he blocks a non thrown noble phantasm it will take all of his mana which will probably cause UBW to collapse at the same time. He can also trace excal but not spam.

Yeah,in the anime. I read the parts about him in the Novel and he was given a decent amount of space and backstory contrary to the anime where they gave him just a slight touch at the very end,almost like an after thought as if they realized they could have used that waste of an episode given to Chibi!Rin to a more important character. Even Gilgamesh's backstory got cut, poor ENkidu was never to be seen.

@DawnBlader Zero Berserker can make anything he touches a noble phantasm, him not being able to do more than one life of damage isn't a problem. Additionally, Caliburn doesn't have some special effect that says it kills a single enemy multiple times. Caliburn just so happened to be powerful enough to do like 9 lives of damage (despite him only having like 4 or 5 left). Additionally, due to Zero Berserker's ability, he can pick random shit up and throw it to do damage (like he did against Saber).

@PhantomCrimson You also point out that his only useful Noble Phantasm is Alondite, but I have to disagree. He was quite dangerous in the jet he stole, as Saber put it, he was firing 1200 rounds per SECOND and a single round would have killed her if it hit. That's quite the useful Noble Phantasm right there against quite a few servants. But because normal Berserker's "God Hand" ability adapts to being hit by the same attack multiple times it's impossible for him to die to Alondite alone.

She's tired, weak, barely able to defend herself, etc. Blasts from Excalibur are being defeated easily by bursts from Ea. She actually get near him in fate for close range fighting and in that moment she actually does have a bit of advantage, attempting to overwhelm Gilgamesh. *Cont*

@GUNDAM00745 Arondight increases savings throws and is capable of receiving any attack without taking damage. Thanks to the increase in the success rate of savings throws plus his protection of the fairies, Lancelot can survive Enuma Elish and Excalibur due to a higher evasion rate. Furthermore, thanks to its ability to receive any attack without taking damage, Arondight can function as a shield. Against Rider/Caster, Lancelot would lose because he cannot survive a drawn out battle (Kariya sux).

Hah, don't think so. I'm reading F/Zero right now, and berserker seems to have the perfect skills to fight any of the 2 mighty archers (Be it against UBW or Gate of Babilon). Can't judge yet, I'm still in the first tome, but Zero sure seems promising.

@ReroOnyx i remember in the the UBW route before Archer and Shirou fought, when Shinji and Gilgamesh came and Archer and Gilgamesh where actually in the same room. I remember Archer even saying to Shinji something like "If you insist on taking RIn then i suppose i should defeat you here",This suggests to me that Archer seems very confident that he can win against Gilgamesh. But then again Gilgamesh just calls Archer a "clown" w/c suggests to me that he is underestimating Archer.

Also i think that Gil would take the opertunity to mock Bers when he is trappen an wont kill instantly. To Enkidu, i am not even sure if KoH is a magical thing, but i also dont see why magic should not be affacted. I also think that in most fights Gil would win, but Berserker is just to badass to loose :3

@Anizero1000 Generally yes Berserker has the best abilities...however other classes may have better noble phantasms and if Berserker was seperated from it's master, it'd no longer be able to maintain a planned battle strategy and would just smash everything in plain sight. (Do know when you say berserker it means ALL of the Berserker class...not just the Fate/Zero one)

Can't argue with that.... yet still we all know the outcome of this battle. Dont get me wrong, Zero berserker is one of my favourites, but saber is gonna be the 1 of the 2 last servant along with Gilgamesh

just make a note... shiro can make caliburn because he has a dream when saber using it + even if archer use caliburn he only got a 1 less rank Caliburn because he use it..but because saber use shiro caliburn together with him shiro caliburn has same rank as the real caliburn. And the noble phantasm that Berserker/Zero use using Jet isn't Arondight...its "Knight of Honor" and the reason why berserker lose not because saber win but because his master is dead and he lose his mana supply...

*cont.* We are talking the one Beserker with high enough rank in Mad Enhancement to have most of his relevant stats in the "A" range, yet still able to wield anything in existence with skill equivalent to lifelong mastery. And his own ex-holy indestructible sword apparently rivaling Excalibur, that he can wield with a level of skill beyond that. It's not even skill anymore. It's just sheer talent. The kind Saber apparently didn't have herself . . .

well, a traced BP is on the same rank as the original. so maybe it doesn't lose on that aspect, however prana cost wise u can't say u win this exchange either. u lose more prana than ur opponent and the weapon afterwards (in archers case, it's "just" more prana). i think whether that's fine or not, highly depends on the current situation. if the replica was perfect, it would be another story. in general u can't trace one, though.

@PriestJaykob SO MANY THINGS WRONG, but just to say the tiniest, the use of Arondight disables Berserker's "everything is my NP" NP. Also, Enkidu is unaffected by magical energy, its use relies heavily on the "summon it everywhere" that Gate of Babylon provides and Berserker could never counterattack under the rain on weapons. You are right in that Gil's pride would probably seal Ëa, and the battle would be a stalemate until Berserker's magical thirst killed his master.

For any Servant to not be instantly petrified they need to have at least B in magic. And even those can be petrified as demonstrated with Archer. Dark Saber had A++ in magic that's why she couldn't be turned to stone.Lancelot has C in magic. Do the math.

@ReroOnyx Gilgamesh truly outclasses Archer in raw stats, but Archer is probably the most resourceful servant and the one that has the most experience in battle. (due to him becoming a counter guardian), with his Mind's Eye he may be able to predict Gilgamesh's attacks so he can evade or maybe counter them.He pressure Gil better than Shirou. I think if he uses Ea in the Beginning of the match Gilgamesh wins, but he probably won't do that cuz as i said, he underestimates Archer.

@ReroOnyx this also supports the statement in the novel that Archer killed Berserker 6 time and each time in 6 different ways. So even if Archer or Shirou can only project NP with a rank reduction."tracing" does make up for it and because of this, Shirou is able to match Gilgamesh's superior NP's because even though they are stronger Gilgamesh has basically no experience in using them and cant use techniques or attack skills.

i don't quite agree with this because the sudden increase in gae-bolgs attack power may have been due to Lancers technique "Soaring Spear that Strikes with Death" and not necessarily from the NP itself, Gungnir may be naturally stronger. I agree with most of the other stuff you said tho.

A good scenario maybe for Archer taking of some 3 lives with some range attacks and the finishing off with 9 lives. i'd thing he'd have enough mana to execute a total of 4 moves. it's not like Rin is that bad a master

@vergilheartnet Also note that unlike Gate of Babylon, Unlimited Blade Works takes any weapon and reduces it it by one rank. GoB however gets stronger the more wealth the user has. Also, Enkindu might not have the necessary effect on Shirou with him being a non-divine being, but its still a chain and Shirou is still a human. If your body is haltered at any time, its going to put Shirou on the losing end. *cont*

@MrQvmateo Lastly, Unlimited Blade Works requires a lot more prana than Gate of Babylon. Stated to be 2-3 times as much prana needed to use the NP actually. It's shown too after the battle as Shirou basically collapases, exausted and tired. Back to Fate/Zero Gil uses both the full power of Babylon, the full power of Ea, plus Enkidu and doesn't show any problems or tiredness at all.

@8dolfonrunescape shattered his mind cuz he used Archers UBW to project and trace 9 lives instead of his own and because Shirou and Archers paths in life were now vastly different, Archers arm rejected Shirou and caused the mind shattering, it was not due to the tracing of 9 lives. if you didn't know Archer/Shirou uses UBW even when its not deployed,his projection method is just summoning weapons outside UBW. UBW is the only magic Shirou/Archer can use.

@vergilheartnet Archer cannot trace any Noble Phantasms A rank and above. If he does trace them, they are at least B. This is why he utilizes Broken Phantasms, which, while breaking the Noble Phantasm by overloading it with mana, raises it one rank. He is pretty much the only servant that can do this without consequence because he has multiple copies of the same Noble Phantasms.

@ReroOnyx actually i believe Shirou has proficiency of his projected weapons (atleast more than Gilgamesh).because thats what "tracing" does, w/c is having experience in using the weapon by tracing it's history. Shirou may be just an owner but he does know how to use NP techniques like Nine lives or Crane Wing. So if you really read the novel you would be able to deduce that he does have proficiency.

@MrQvmateo Except in rare caes (Such as Zero Berserker here) a master is able to read the stats of a servant and thus use that in helping themselves within the war and setting their plans in the best way possible. Gilgamesh himself doesn't know the stats of his oponents but somelike Kotomine, his master, would be able to read them. Besides Saber, who he fought in Zero and thus has knowledge on her abilties, Gil has no way to determine on his own just how strong or weak someone is.

@vergilheartnet Plus, Gilgamesh's Independent Action (A) basically allows hims to do whatever he pleases for a few days without a master. including the supply of Prana given to him. He can basically use his noble phantasms whenever he wants and he does. After defeating Iskander and facing Saber, she notes that not a single thing was wrong Gilgamesh. No wounds or even a sign that he was hurt or tired. Kotomine never showed even an ounce of the same magical skill of his mentor.

@DawnBlader Technically, I never said Lancelot would use Nine Lives. But Nine Lives is definitely not an ability of the sword, it was from Berserker's bow. This is a thing that's hard though, because there's no way to know how many lives the Alondite could do to Berserker. One thing though, is that what if he was to use broken phantasms? That might be able to damage Berserker. It might take a command seal, but I would be surprised if Berserkers weren't inclined towards using them, as Berserkers.

@ReroOnyx Also Archer can overedge his weapons (i don't think shirou can though) making them a stronger 1 time use np, as well as being able to make multiple copies of the same np, which i think makes up for that 1 rank reduction . And about Enkidu, would'nt one think that Shirou ,being the one that is on the attack and having the speed advantage would have more time to break the chain (by shooting it with a projected weapon maybe).

Meh, Herakles was superior to Lancelot despite Lance being awesome and all - the issue is that Berserkers are generally inferior to other class versions of the same hero - a saber Lancelot would be godly and Herakles as any other class (the only one he doesn't qualify for is Caster iirc) would have access to more abilities and would be able to form better battle plans. Archer Herakles would kill Gilgamesh from range rather than advance while getting hammered by weapons from the vault, imo.

MyVanir berserker is SUPPOSE to be a class for weaker heroes that trade in skill for power. But both times the hero summoned into berserker class bypassed that, with Heracles having demi-god strength and Lancelot retaining his skill through <Knight of Honor>. My point of Illya-Lancelot combo is because of his mana consumption, bar Dark Sakura she is the only one who could allow him to fight to his full potential, having Saber class attributes boosted by Mad Enhancement, and even further with Arondight.

Knight of Honor isnt the perfect counter to Gate of Babylon as many believe. God (Nasu) said that Lancelot limit was at avoiding about 30 weapons at once, more would kill him. Besides many of those weapons are actually divine mysteries with unknown effects, ranging from ´´spirit´´ scythes that ignore any protection and drain magical energy rather than harming to swords that freeze space itself.

Noted, I only found out about that recently as well, but I think the only issue here would be the quantity, not property, as KoH would nullify the ones that he grab, and just discarding and redrawing a new weapon to fit the situation. Then again, that's to assume GoB doesn't contain weapons that "cannot be stolen" or "cannot switch ownership" which knowing that A rank Golden Rule, most likely does.
