no heart to speak of
blink-182 Lyrics

Oh
Oh
Oh

Photographs of you are still haunting my halls
Still framed and blue, say nothing at all
Sacrifice myself, leave me dead in the sun
Put it on a shelf, leave it there for everyone to see
Is that all you have?
Is that all you have to say?

Lying on the bedroom floor
Hanging on the words that you said before
No heart, no heart to speak of
Dying on the bathroom floor
Thinking of the life that we had before
No heart, no heart to speak of

Nothing left but scars clawed away at my heart
On a crumbling edge, watch me falling apart
Feel the birds of prey circle over our home
Vultures in the ash, separating skin from bone
Is that all you have?
Is that all you have to say?

Lying on the bedroom floor
Hanging on the words that you said before
No heart, no heart to speak of
Dying on the bathroom floor
Thinking of the life that we had before
No heart, no heart to speak of

And I think one day
And I think one day
We'll both just fade away
And I think one day
We'll pay for our mistakes
And I think one day
I'm gonna slip away

Lying on the bedroom floor
Hanging on the words that you said before
No heart, no heart to speak of
Dying on the bathroom floor

Thinking of the life that we had before
No heart, no heart to speak of

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "No Heart to Speak Of" by blink-182 exude a painful sense of emptiness and heartbreak. The song talks about the memories of a lost love that are still haunting the singer, with photographs of the other person still present in every corner of their life. The song emphasizes the feeling of betrayal as the person seems to have left too soon with little explanation. The singer is willing to die in the sun and be nothing but flesh left on the shelf for the world to see. The chorus talks about the lack of love from the other person, and how it has left the singer broken and barely holding on. The last part of the song is a painful premonition of how both will soon vanish and how they will eventually pay the price for their choices. The song ends with an invocation of the inevitability of slipping away and dying.

This song initially appears to be a bitter break-up song with a great hook, but as it plays the depth of the emotions at play becomes more profound. The song talks about the carnage of a once loving relationship where the singer is left with nothing but the painful memory of his former partner. The song has a memorable feeling of aching angst and pain, and it punches hard with the powerful chorus. The lyrics of the song combined with the strong bass rhythms make the song a hauntingly beautiful composition.

This song will be a legacy for Matt Skiba

D V

As much as I love Tom, Matt was really just starting to hit his stride with blink. He is such an amazing songwriter and lyricist in his own right. It almost feels like Tom has to fill Matt's shoes now in a roundabout way.

Skiba deserves so much more credit. To come in and have to replace arguably the most iconic voice in punk/pop rock and then deliver in this album like he does is insane. Now get Tom back and make this band a quartet!!!

Sorry I came back here right after listening to Edging five times.. I hope the next song are as good as this one

Kool Stan Tin

@Ema Heiwa Edging is very average for a comeback song, have to say I'm quite disappointed

Patrik Zajíc

@Kool Stan Tin I think it's a complete commercial shit. Hope the rest of album would be more like disaster or even if she falls. >3
