Bill
Pick up the phone
Bill
Pick up the phone
Bill
Bill
Excuse cutting in
But I'll make you an offer
Membership coverage is here
For each class of shopper
Benefit plans
Come in copper, silver, and gold
Can you wait up one second
I'm gonna put you on hold
Spinning the lie
Wire the line
"I'll take two please"
Dividing a string
Adjudicating
Blessed while you sneeze
What is this?
How do I seal this?
Where does it glue?
Now walk that out
Right to the mailbox
Don't fold it in two
Jill
Pick up the phone
Jill
We know that you're home
We know that you're home
We know that you're home
We know that you're home
(Seal) How's about that honey?
I think this is a smooth decision Yes let's
(The deal)Pick up the loan
I agree sweetheart this seems like a no-brainer

We should (Seal)
(The deal)Set it in stone

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of the song "Cold Call" by Decor capture the interactions and experiences of someone making telemarketing calls. The repeated use of the names "Bill" and "Jill" in the beginning signifies the common practice of a caller trying to get the attention of the person they are calling. The urgency in asking them to pick up the phone suggests a sense of pressure and persistence in trying to make a sale.

As the caller proceeds to pitch their offer, they mention membership coverage for different types of shoppers, offering benefit plans in copper, silver, and gold. This can be interpreted as a metaphor for different levels or tiers of services or products that the company is promoting. The line "Can you wait up one second, I'm gonna put you on hold" introduces a sense of detachment and insincerity, highlighting the impersonal nature of telemarketing.

The lyrics delve deeper into the manipulative and deceptive practices involved in telemarketing, with references to spinning lies, wiring lines, and making deceitful promises. The act of dividing a string and adjudicating while someone sneezes may symbolize a calculated and opportunistic approach to selling, taking advantage of vulnerabilities or distractions to push a sale. The imagery of sealing, gluing, and mailing out an offer emphasizes the transactional and transactional nature of telemarketing.

Towards the end of the song, the focus shifts to a conversation between two people, possibly the caller and a colleague or supervisor, discussing the progress of a potential sale. The use of terms like "smooth decision," "no-brainer," and "set it in stone" conveys a sense of confidence and assurance in sealing the deal. This section reflects the calculated and strategic aspects of salesmanship, where emotions and personal connections are often exploited to close a sale. Overall, the lyrics of "Cold Call" provide a cynical and satirical take on the world of telemarketing, exposing the manipulative tactics and insincerity that often accompany sales pitches.

This was so great to watch! Thank You for your transparency! This really gives me hope. It shows that even through our shyness or being nervous, putting ourselves out there can pay off! Also feel inspired, because it's easy to feel like a cold call can be annoying to the person we are calling, but in your case she was not annoyed at all and actually needs help! This was inspiring for sure! Thank You for posting the real behind the scenese!

You're an amazing designer! Sales may not be your strength but the more cold calls you do, the more confidence and sales skills you'll develop. I would say the goal from a cold call is to gain a discovery call/meeting out of it.

It definitely works! Creating a great email targeted at the particular potential client with some samples of your work, also works. Best thing with cold calling is to match or the exceed the confidence of the potential client. πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ

I just did my "semi" cold call (not really cold call because I didn't speak to manager) but I was so freakiiing nervous. I never realized how scary it was until I tried it but you did a way better job on your first call then my first call.

You did very well on the call. I know that is the scariest part of the business for me as well
