From an early age Roel kept himself busy with finding new sounds and creating music. As GOSTO he and his live band melt the worlds of acoustic and electronic music together into one dubby trip-hop sound; raw, dark but still colourful.
Inspired by traveling, chaos and love as well as artists such as Flying Lotus, James Blake, Thom Yorke and Jeff Buckley, GOSTO balances between fragile melodies and electronic extravaganza. In his song writing, he thrives to let you experience the thin line between simplicity and complexity. GOSTO takes you to places that you seem to recognize, but not yet have been before.
Roel’s band exists out of musicians how create a tight sound, despite of their totally different background. These four virtuosos have the ability play a ground shaking energetic but still very controlled live-show. Expect thrilling melodies, catchy vocals and deep, deep synths.
In June 2014, GOSTO released his debut EP (premiered on Noisey) and was amongst others support act for How to Dress Well.
GOSTO can be seen at several festivals and at different clubs.
GOSTO band:

Best of Me
gosto Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
You need a colour tv
The black and white one
Is doing fine for me
Why do you need
More time from me
You know the truth is not as good as fantasy
So why would you cross the line?
Maybe it’s true
That life is unfair
Just look at the sad face
Of a Millionaire
Looking for all
Money can buy
More and more and yet he’s never satisfied
So why would you cross the line?
So hang up the phone
I’ll see you soon
Keep thinking about what, we’re gonna do
Just focus your eyes
And savor the taste
Know that the wine is getting sweeter as you wait
In the first verse, the lyrics convey a sense of confusion and questioning in a relationship. The singer questions why their partner desires materialistic things like a color TV when the simple black and white one suffices for them. The singer also raises the point that the truth may not be as satisfying as fantasies, implying that their partner may be seeking something more exciting or superficial in their relationship. The line "So why would you cross the line?" suggests that their partner may be asking for too much or pushing boundaries, causing the singer to feel like their patience is being tested and they are being taken advantage of.
Moving on to the second verse, the lyrics introduce the concept of fairness and dissatisfaction in life. The singer compares a millionaire, who seemingly has everything money can buy, to someone who appears sad. This suggests that even with all the wealth and possessions, true happiness or contentment cannot be guaranteed. The lyrics emphasize the neverending desire for more and more, despite it ultimately not leading to satisfaction. This can be seen as a criticism of materialism and the belief that external things can provide true fulfillment.
As the song progresses, the chorus repeats the question of why someone would cross the line, indicating the singer's frustration or disbelief at their partner's actions. The lyrics then urge the partner to hang up the phone and indicate a forthcoming meeting, implying a need for face-to-face communication or resolution. The line "Keep thinking about what we're gonna do" suggests that despite the difficulties in the relationship, the singer wants their partner to focus on finding solutions rather than dwelling on the problems.
Finally, the lyrics emphasize the importance of patience and savoring the present moment. The singer suggests that the wine of life, metaphorically representing experiences or relationships, becomes sweeter with time and waiting. This implies that rushing or demanding immediate fulfillment can potentially lead to missing out on the deeper and more enjoyable aspects of life. The lyrics encourage the partner to keep their eyes focused and appreciate the journey rather than solely fixating on desired outcomes. Overall, the song seems to convey a message about the value of contentment, patience, and the potential dangers of unrealistic expectations.
