From an early age Roel kept himself busy with finding new sounds and creating music. As GOSTO he and his live band melt the worlds of acoustic and electronic music together into one dubby trip-hop sound; raw, dark but still colourful.
Inspired by traveling, chaos and love as well as artists such as Flying Lotus, James Blake, Thom Yorke and Jeff Buckley, GOSTO balances between fragile melodies and electronic extravaganza. In his song writing, he thrives to let you experience the thin line between simplicity and complexity. GOSTO takes you to places that you seem to recognize, but not yet have been before.
Roel’s band exists out of musicians how create a tight sound, despite of their totally different background. These four virtuosos have the ability play a ground shaking energetic but still very controlled live-show. Expect thrilling melodies, catchy vocals and deep, deep synths.
In June 2014, GOSTO released his debut EP (premiered on Noisey) and was amongst others support act for How to Dress Well.
GOSTO can be seen at several festivals and at different clubs.
GOSTO band:
Roel Vermeer: Vocals, synths & samples

Lovely Lady
gosto Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Where did our time run?
Seconds have turned in to tears
No one knows where,
to look when you're there
Gazing down at their feet
I'll catch you later in life
Where do you go when you leave?
Lovely lady,
you've been on my mind lately
Lovely lady,
please get home safely
"Fool, Fool, Fool"
Guess I'm a fool to
let you slip through
Let your lips lead to me
I'll catch you later in life
I'll call you later my wife
Where do you go when you leave?
Lovely lady,
you've been on my mind lately
Lovely lady,
Please get home safely
The lyrics of "Lovely lady" by Gosto are very emotional and reflective. The first line, "Life is a time bomb," immediately sets the tone for the rest of the song, suggesting the unpredictability of life, and how quickly time can pass us by. The next line, "Where did our time run?" seems to lament the passing of time, and how it seems to slip away from us without us even noticing. The following lines, "Seconds have turned into tears, no one knows where to look when you're there, gazing down at their feet," evoke feelings of sadness and confusion that the singer is experiencing, possibly referring to a lost connection or a relationship that has ended.
The next part of the song, "I'll catch you later in life, I'll call you later my wife, where do you go when you leave?" seems to suggest that the singer has lost touch with someone they care deeply about, possibly a former lover or close friend. The repetition of the phrase "Lovely lady" throughout the song reinforces this idea, as it is a term of endearment that is often used with someone who is close to you. The lines, "Please get home safely," add a sense of desperation to the song, as if the singer is reaching out to the person they miss, hoping they are safe and well.
The final part of the song, "Guess I'm a fool to let you slip through, let your lips lead to me," seems to suggest that the singer may have made a mistake in letting this person go, and is struggling with the regret of their actions. Overall, "Lovely Lady" is a powerful and introspective song that explores themes of loss, regret, and the fleeting nature of time.
