From an early age Roel kept himself busy with finding new sounds and creating music. As GOSTO he and his live band melt the worlds of acoustic and electronic music together into one dubby trip-hop sound; raw, dark but still colourful.
Inspired by traveling, chaos and love as well as artists such as Flying Lotus, James Blake, Thom Yorke and Jeff Buckley, GOSTO balances between fragile melodies and electronic extravaganza. In his song writing, he thrives to let you experience the thin line between simplicity and complexity. GOSTO takes you to places that you seem to recognize, but not yet have been before.
Roel’s band exists out of musicians how create a tight sound, despite of their totally different background. These four virtuosos have the ability play a ground shaking energetic but still very controlled live-show. Expect thrilling melodies, catchy vocals and deep, deep synths.
In June 2014, GOSTO released his debut EP (premiered on Noisey) and was amongst others support act for How to Dress Well.
GOSTO can be seen at several festivals and at different clubs.

The More We Know
gosto Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Where time looks like a gun,
That postpones pulling the trigger
I welcome you, to dig into the ground
As long as it's your own grave
I welcome you, to the world I live in
Where time looks like a bomb,
Don't fool yourself,
And don't you fool the rest,
As long as it's your own grave
And the more we know,
The more we know
The less gold glows,
The less gold glows
And the more we know,
The more we know
The less gold glows,
The less gold glows
I welcome you, to the world I live in
Where time looks like a bomb,
Where only we can fit in
Don't fool yourself,
And don't you fool the rest,
As long as it's your own grave
And the more we know,
The more we know
The less gold glows,
The less gold glows
And the more we know,
The more we know
The less gold glows,
The less gold glows
In "The More We Know," Gosto takes the listener on a journey through his world, where time seems like a weapon that we're always trying to outrun or outmaneuver. The lyrics suggest that we need to be careful with the choices we make because they can have a lasting impact on our lives. For example, Gosto welcomes the listener to dig into the ground, as long as it's their own grave. This line suggests that we should be accountable for our actions and not try to shift the blame onto others.
The repetition of the phrase "the more we know, the less gold glows" is particularly striking. It seems to suggest that as we gain knowledge and insight, material wealth becomes less important. The "gold" here could also represent our desire for success or status, which fades away as we discover more about ourselves and the world around us. This is a powerful message, as too often we measure our success by what we have, rather than who we are as people.
Overall, "The More We Know" is a thought-provoking song that encourages us to reflect on our lives and the choices we make. It reminds us that our actions have consequences and that we should strive to be accountable for our own lives.
