Soon he started DJing at the classic spot De Duivel, where he learned the art of DJing in front of a crowd. While performing, he hooked up with fellow 'Amsterdammer' and DJ/producer Kid Sublime, who showed him the ropes of rocking a sampler. J.A.N. quickly caught the virus and invested in his own digital equipment, started digging for samples, and thereby widening his musical spectrum. When Kid introduced J.A.N. to house music, he quickly felt drawn to the warm, deep sounds of the Detroit house scene. He describes his fusion style as B-Boy House, and incorporated this right back into his DJ sets. In one set he might start off with down tempo hip hop, like a Pete Rock or Slum Village record, and end up taking you right to the raw burbs of Detroit playing such artists as Theo Parrish or Moodymann.

My tears flood my surroundings within five seconds. I can't imagine life without my little brother. We often share sweet drinks, juices, teas, coffee and on special occasions, Blue label whiskey. With a little luck, we'll be able to toast our grandchildren.

I watched this in 2017 and thought. Damn I need to talk to my little brother i haven't talked to him I while. He died in his sleep 12-14-19 . I talked to him a few times but never over dinner, coffee, or a football game. We were grown and had our lives in motion. Never had the time for each other. Now I wish I had time for our youths. I sit here wishing we talked about those free days of youth. Many people seen my little brother as a man.... I seen him as my baby brother. I had to do his eulogy it was the hardest. I will remember him always as my baby brother. I know know he's with our mother. Love you Chris.

I watch this now and then. Not because I lost my brother, but to remind myself how much I love him and would miss him if he were not here. He is my best friend and I cannot image a life without him.

Our second son was stillborn at 39.5 weeks. We didn't know until we got to the hospital in labor. Our first is a redhead. Someone showed this to me at work a few months later and unlocked this longing for their relationship. It's been 7 years and this still breaks open my heart and makes me cry. It is now a little over a year ago that I walked along most of the places shown here, the Quiraing, the Storr, and Kilt Rock. My uncle had unexpectedly died shortly before. We didn't see each other often but whenever we did he always had life-changing advice on whatever it was I was struggling with or worried about, and so he was very dear to me. We shared a passion for history, travelling, and good whisky. My aunt entrusted me with some of his ashes so that I could say my final goodbye in a place and time that I would think to be fitting. Sitting on the edge of the Trotternish Ridge, in authentic Scottish rainy and gusty weather, I poured two glasses of Laphroaig, clinked mine with the other and I said all the things that I still had wanted to say to my uncle and thanked him for everything he had done for me. I haven't thought much about him since. Not because I don't miss him, but more because I had said everything I wanted a year ago and had moved past my grief. This video, however, brought me right back to that precious moment on that ridge in the Scottish rain, for which I'm very grateful, Daniel and Dorian. Please never stop bringing back to life people's most cherished memories through your work, as you did for me with this 'ad'. The only thing my uncle would have disapproved of, would have been your choice to promote Johnnie Walker rather than Laphroaig. ;)

Every now and then i watch this video and always the tears come at once. It reminds me of my best friend who was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident in 1992 when we were 27. I lost my childhood best friend last November, mother in-law Christmas Eve, and uncle (godfather and best friend) in May. Watching this advert had a profound effect on me. Having lost my brother tragically some 20 years back, its as if this was sent to me by him, he even looked similar. I cried bucket loads of tears, but found it very comforting somehow. Beautifully done, with great insight.

same. typically, scrolling through my facebook memories evoke feelings of “meh”, some are downright cringey - but THIS. I have replayed the ad no fewer than 5x tonight- each time the feels it evokes are as powerful as the last. this is a work of art, timeless and thoughtful. I’m better for having viewed it, and I will continue to share it. every aspect of the video- the words, music, landscape, lighting, and subject matter - masterfully orchestrated. bravo.

I do not know if this ever became a broadcast commercial or not, however the message is powerful. And yes, i cried. I was quite simply overwhelmed by the emotions it resurrected. It touches at the pain of loss, the fear of being forever abandoned, and our uncertainty of a life everlasting. But it is also a message of hope; Hope that there is something more to life than just what we can see, and the need for us to hold on to those we have lost, in our memories, so as to keep them near us and to let them know we will always love them. And pray that one day, they will be waiting for us. To all of those who were moved by this message, peace. And to the fragile humanity who wept, unashamed at the love that this message promises from the other side, I share your emotion. When he put his head on his brother’s shoulder, oh My God, I just broke down. Hard ... To the genius creators of these impassioned 90 seconds, you have my utmost Respect. You so eloquently captured a very personal moment along the journey of life with dignity and artistry. Thank you. Nice work son.

I come back to this from time to time; it never fails to make me cry. I haven’t spoken to my brother in ten years. I miss him terribly, or maybe I miss who I imagine him to be. I went through my life always being reminded I was a bother to him, and when you’re pushed away long enough you finally leave. I always wanted a brother who loved me, because - as other people have come and gone in life - I knew he’d always be there. It was just a dream, I guess.

Wow guys, amazingly powerful commercial. I was watching thinking "I should share this with my brother." We grew up on the Isle of Skye where you have filmed this and it was already an emotional piece for me. Even the line "Until our roads lead us away from each other," rang deep as I moved away from the Island while he was still at school, but now he has spent the last couple of years travelling the world.

The ending of the commercial took it to a higher level. Fortunately my brother and I will still be able to share a dram the next time we're back on the Island, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Commenting on YouTube videos is a silly thing. Heck, engaging in just about any online forum can be a mistake. But this video compelled me.
This is absolutely beautiful, and it really hits home. You see, I lost my brother six years ago. I still find myself wondering about our shared experiences and the things we did together. We were close. All my brothers are close. But we each had moments alone with one another that the others didn't experience, and so we hold on to those moments with our brother.
Not only that but the last house I lived in with him burned to the ground, and the only "home" in this video looks to have a similar look to what our home looked like after the fire... Man, this is well done.
