My heart would surely cease
To yearn but a doubt
There'll be no inner peace
When the road Peters out
My heart would surely cease
To yearn my first affection
And when my heart fails
To stop that blood I've lost before
Then my heart will sail
To land upon another shore
When the road Peters out
My heart would surely cease
To yearn but a doubt
My heart it gives a shout
And when my heart fails
To stop that blood I've lost before
Then my heart will sail
To land upon another shore
When the road Peters out
Then my heart would surely cease
Cease to yearn but a doubt
There'll be no inner peace
And when my heart fails
To stop that blood I've lost before
Then my heart will sail
To land upon another shore
My heart
My heart
My heart
My heart
My heart
My heart
My heart
My heart
Jordan Hunt's song "Peter" is a contemplative piece about the uncertainties and struggles of life. The title "Peter" is likely a reference to the phrase "Petering out," which means to gradually come to an end. The lyrics speak of the fear and doubt that arises when the road that we are on seems to come to an end. Hunt sings that if the road were to peter out, then his heart would surely cease to yearn, but he is not entirely sure if he would be able to find inner peace.
The song is also about the idea of practice making perfect. Hunt suggests that his first affection was not enough and that it took practice to make it perfect. He then goes on to say that even when his heart fails, there is always the hope of finding another shore where he can find peace. Despite the fear and uncertainty of the future, the song ultimately ends on a note of hope and resilience.
Overall, "Peter" is a poignant reflection on the fragility of life and the importance of perseverance. It encourages listeners to face their fears and doubts head-on and to keep moving forward, even when the road seems to be coming to an end.

To long for my initial love
Practice makes perfection
Repetition leads to mastery
And when my heart fails
If my emotions falter
To stop that blood I've lost before

My heart it gives a shout
My feelings demand to be heard
Then my heart would surely cease

I’ve been an emotional wreck these past 8 months. Loosing my mother to cancer in November and then having to euthanize my cat in March. This song and the video reminds me of the pain I got inside of me, the feeling of being helpless and not able to break free from it. I feel this!
