Aura
leaks.gaga Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I killed my former and
Left her in the trunk on highway ten
Put the knife under the hood
If you find it, send it straight to Hollywood

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
Aura-a-a-a aura-a-a-a
Aura-a-a-a aura-a-a-a
Aura-a-a-a aura-a-a-a

I'm not a wandering slave I am a woman of choice
My veil is protection for the gorgeousness of my face
You ought to pity me 'cause was always one man to love
But in the bedroom the size of him's more than enough

Do you wanna see me naked, lover?
Do you wanna peek underneath the cover?
Do you wanna see the girl who lives behind the aura, behind the aura?
Do you wanna touch me, cosmic lover?
Do you wanna peek underneath the cover?
Do you wanna see the girl who lives behind the aura?
Behind the aura, behind the aura, behind the aura?

Enigma pop star is fun, she wear burqa for fashion
It's not a statement as much as just a move of passion
I may not walk on your street or shoot a gun on your soil
I hear you screaming, is it because of pleasure or toil?

Dance, sex, art, pop, tech
Dance, sex, art, pop, tech

Do you wanna see me naked, lover?
Do you wanna peek underneath the cover?
Do you wanna see the girl who lives behind the aura, behind the aura?
Do you wanna touch me, cosmic lover?
Do you wanna peek underneath the cover?

Do you wanna see the girl who lives behind the aura?
Behind the aura, behind the curtain, behind the burga

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Leaks.gaga's song Aura give a glimpse into the world of a woman who has killed her former self and now lives under the protection of a veil, or an "aura". She reveals that she isn't a wandering slave, but a woman of choice who has enough size in the bedroom, which suggests that she is no longer submissive in her relationships. The song has a dark undertone as she confesses to having killed her former self and left her in the trunk on highway ten. She even reveals that she has hidden the knife under the hood of her car, with a playful suggestion to send it straight to Hollywood if found.

The Enigma pop star is an interesting character that is introduced in the song. This person (presumably the singer) wears a burqa for fashion, not as a statement. She is aware that she may not be accepted in every society but expresses a desire to connect with her listeners. The chorus is repetitive and catchy, with the singer asking her lover if they want to see her naked or touch her. She invites them to peek underneath the cover to see the girl who lives behind the aura, the veil.

Overall, the song Aura is a commentary on the power of women's sexuality and the need for protection in a world that can be dangerous for women. The singer asserts her independence and strength while also acknowledging the limitations placed on her by society. The Enigma pop star represents a persona that is daring and unapologetic, yet still seeks acceptance and connection with others.

I’m still sad this didn’t got to be the lead single... Can y’all imagine THIS being the FIRST ARTPOP SINGLE and all the hype it would have created because of the rumors of this being the last part for Paparazzi-Telephone... 💥

Awake 7

Yeah it would have been so cool

Anibal Roldan

Well, when this got leaked, they're playing it on the radio in my country the very next morning.

Sinewave

The differences between this version and the released album version is:
1:15 She sings "woman of choice" instead of speaking it
1:28 She sings "love" in a more sustained tone
1:37 The lead into the next verse is completely cut off in the released version

Into Something sometimes

Which is why this is the best

Julia

this is so much better than the "real" version thats on the album... I was so bummed when I heard that they changed it.

superamusinggg

Better than the remastered version thats on the album.

Fernando

This is the same as the album version.

Purple Stardust

Fernando El Pelón Nope, the album version is toned down. She leaked it on her fake SoundCloud account cause she wanted this to be the 1st Single but her label wouldn't let her. Listen to this and then the album version. Parts of this here they kept so yes it does sound a bit like the album version, but it isn't the final outcome. I didn't like when they changed it, they should've left it like this.
