Rome
the hero and the victor Lyrics

Autumn in Rome
My heart remembers fountains where children played
Gardens where dreams were made

Autumn in Rome
Memories like embers glow
When I seem to hear walks beneath the pines that grace the golden sky
Stopping now and then to share a lover's sigh, you and I

Let winter come
All my Decembers I'll spend just dreaming of the way we fell in love
One lovely Autumn in Rome

Walks beneath the pines that grace the golden sky
Stopping now and then to share a lover's sigh, you and I
Let winter come

All my Decembers I spend just dreaming of the way we fell in love
One lovely Autumn in Rome

Hey all, we spent an ungodly amount of time making this 2-hour documentary and we hope that you will give us your like - press that button, it is so important! Obviously, not every aspect of this era can be covered in just 2 hours, but we did our best to show the military and diplomatic situation surrounding the conquest of Greece by the Roman Republic. Winter is coming, so consider buying one of our Rome-themed hoodies, they are warm and cozy

This long video showcased many battles, and each one showed how fickle morale was. This had always been so with warfare, it's just fascinating seeing it strung together, repeating each time.

The losing side of a battle may still have tons of troops capable of fighting, but if the men see they're getting flanked or attacked from the rear, it was over. Nobody wants to get surrounded, pincered, etc. Guys will bolt and run.

Also in the time period all this took place, the Roman Republic was a steamroller. From the end of the Second Punic War and in the years after, which includes the conquest of Greece, the Legions carved out out an empire.

In addition, you can see how as the power of Rome grew, its diplomacy in dealing with the Greeks lost a lot of finesse and resorting more quickly to blunt force.

It could not have been a good time to have lived in Greece or Asia Minor at this time. Especially in Greece with the nonstop fighting. I lost track how many times Rome had to dispatch armies into Greece.

On a meta note, I love the idea of using videogame footage as a way to allow for cheap, easy footage to spruce up a historical documentary.

Crazy Hercules

I agree. Kings and Generals is the best and really inspiring for history enthusiasts.

Poison Bemhole

Plot twist, it’s not gaming footage but actual footage of real romans thousands of years ago, the reason they look like a game is because people looked different back then ;)

gentlemen.

It’s mainly because it’s easier to set up battles with a few mods in Rome 2 then to 3D animate the battles themselves
