Where the lonely souls dwell
Went down so low
Thought you went to hell
But you see daylight in the distance
Not the end of your rope
And the light is dim
Try to find someone
Keep on walking strong
With your heart open wide
You'll be satisfied
And a bed of rocks is your bed
Walk the halls at night
Only to shake your head
Where do the lost birds fly?
Maybe you were meant to be alone
'Cause love is not an easy thing, no
It's not the end because she's gone
Can't strike out unless you swing
Try to find someone
Keep on, keep on walking strong
With your heart open wide
You'll be satisfied
I know how you feel 'cause I've felt it too
Just as bad as your searching for someone
There is someone out there who needs you
And you see daylight in the distance
Not the end of your rope
And the light is dim
But it burns with hope
Try to find someone
Keep on walking strong
With your heart open wide
You'll be satisfied
You'll be satisfied
The subdudes' song 'Satisfied' tackles themes of loneliness, searching for meaning, and the struggle to find satisfaction in life. The lyrics speak of searching in dark alleyways where 'the lonely souls dwell,' a metaphor for the experience of feeling alone and out of place in the world. The singer has gone 'down so low' that they 'thought [they] went to hell.' This is a powerful image of despair and hopelessness, suggesting that the singer has hit rock bottom emotionally.
However, 'Satisfied' is not a song about giving up or accepting defeat. Instead, it's an uplifting message of hope and perseverance. The chorus encourages the listener to keep searching, keep walking strong, and stay open-hearted. The lyrics suggest that if you keep going, if you keep your eyes and your heart open, you'll find what you're looking for: 'you'll be satisfied.' The final verse of the song reinforces this message, reminding us that 'there is someone out there who needs you.'
The subdudes' 'Satisfied' is a powerful anthem for anyone feeling lost, alone, or dissatisfied with their life. It encourages listeners to keep searching for meaning and purpose, to keep their hearts open despite the struggles they face. This powerful message of hope has resonated with audiences since the song's release, inspiring countless people to keep going and never give up.
