Confusion Is The End
v/a DC Demos LP Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴

So let's dance, let's shake
Let's sing this night away
Let's move, let's scream
What else is there to say?
I'm walking on eggshells for far too long
So let's dance, let's shake
Let's sing this night away
You were my shelter before I left it all behind
I went out searching but I didn't know what I'd find
The world's much darker than It seems
And now all I have are regrets in my dreams
So let's dance, let's shake
Let's sing this night away
Let's move, let's scream
What else is there to say?
I'm walking on eggshells for far too long
So let's dance, let's shake
Let's sing this night away
The end is near
The end is here
These words confirm my worst fear
The end is here.
I'm bruised and I'm beaten
Lost and defeated
But the fog will lift and divide that rift
I'm bruised and I'm beaten
Lost and defeated
But the fog will lift and divide that rift
I'm bruised and I'm beaten
Lost and defeated
But the fog will lift and divide that rift
I'm bruised and I'm beaten

Lost and defeated
But the fog will lift and divide that rift

Terrific band with Ian MacKaye's brother Alex on vocals. With Mike Hampton guitar, Chris Bald bass and Ivor Hansen drums. A rather dark, angry sound is a hallmark of this early DC hardcore band on Dischord Records. BTW, their split with Void is probably one of the two all time greatest hardcore split albums

@thebargettntrollied

Yeah, it's uncanny how much Alex sounds like his bro at times, especially on the Subject To Change ep.

so much great music on Dischord. I'm just starting to get into their catalog after, say, 1988. That's because HC was my passion. Recently Ian told me to go deep with Lungfish. And the few albums I've heard by them are terrific. All are on youtube

I had the great pleasure of sharing a stage & my amp with Ian when the band I was in supported Fugazi in Dublin back in the 80's....nice guys.

I like these versions of "In the Black" and "It's Time." The released versions are great, too, in terms of sonic attack, but there's a flavor in MacKaye's vocals here that's very appealing.
