Originally, the title for this album was "Pentagrammaton," but this title was discarded when several people read it as "Pentagon." The pentagram was moved to the back of the album cover and replaced with part of a retouched drawing made by Joseph A. Smith in 1981 for the book Witches by Erica Jong.
It was first printed in 1000 vinyl copies, with a goldish-yellow color used instead of a monochrome one. After that, Quorthon had it switched to black and white as he thought the original album cover looked "awful".
