Bear's Den are a British folk rock band from London, formed in 2012. The band consists of Andrew Davie (lead vocals, electric guitar, acoustic guitar) and Kevin Jones (vocals, drums, bass, guitar). Joey Haynes (vocals, banjo, guitar) left the band in early 2016. Joey has been replaced by Dutch artist Christof van der Ven in the studio and on tours since 2016 but not as an official member.

The band received two nominations at the UK Americana Awards in 2016, Artist of the Year and Song of the Year for "Agape".

Saw this video about 3 years ago and heard the song and loved it so much. Then suddenly I moved onto another video and forgot the name of the band and the song and spent about three years typing "Scottish, beach/ rock band" into YouTube search bar looking... And now, three years of searching and I wasn't even looking I was watching Mumford and Sons play the shit out of a banjo and suddenly here I am. I'm happy and I've found some of the best music I've ever heard. Again.

Man, this song is so relatable. I first came across it at a time when I was dating this really awesome girl, and it turned out she actually liked this band too. It took on a personal meaning when I started to get this terrible feeling that I was going to lose this girl despite all the hopes I had, and I didn’t know what I could do about it. That terrible feeling was realized when she ended things with me... The symbolism in the video of them sinking deeper and deeper into the sand is like that terrible feeling that came over me slowly but surely and then was realized. I’m left in this pit of sand as my fear of not wanting to know who I am without her is realized and I’m left “clutching at straws” wishing I was clutching her instead.

Except that one of the band members, Kevin Jones (at the 1:51 mark of the video) is a Gen Xer (38 years old, and born in 1979), and Joey Haynes (at the 2:19 mark) was possibly born in 1981/1982, which puts him on the cusp depending on who you ask. Andrew is the only true millennial (born in 1989). But there's no arguing that he is a great performer!

@Arvi There are three novels, "Openly Straight", "Openly Honestly", "Honestly Ben". "Openly Honestly" is the middle one. These novels are about USA high school students struggling love, themselves, and sexuality. If you are familiar with the terms, I highly recommend. Otherwise, I don't know.

What makes this video so good is that it really follows the theme of the song: unrequited love, which leaves the one left wanting so incredibly desperate. Being buried in sand with the water coming up is the perfect metaphor for that feeling of helplessness.
