Everything
Bif Naked Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

My mother gave me one more reason
Not to call you on the phone.
She told me, "Chase girls like that
All yer life and you'll wind up alone."
I guess I would just like to take you
Out for a cappuccino,
You refuse my advances once again,
I can't hear one more "No!"

I wish you would get over him,
I'll change yer mind about everything.

When I wink at you, you always
Turn the other cheek,
I drilled a hole in the girls' showers
So that at you I could peek,
I'd love to get you naked and throw you
In the back of my dad's car,
I hear that if I get to third base with you,
It won't be too far!

I wish you would get over him,
I'll change yer mind about everything!
As I grow older I feel better
About me and myself,
I swear I never, ever once wished
I was anybody else.
I'd like to tell you I think you should
Come up and see me sometime,
I know that I could possibly make it
The best time of yer life!

I wish you would get over him!
I'll change yer mind about everything!

Overall Meaning

These lyrics by Bif Naked's song Everything are about unrequited love, desperation and possibly even stalking. The singer is trying to win the affection of someone they are infatuated with, but they are constantly rejected. The song starts with a line about the singer's mother giving them advice about chasing girls like the person they are after, which will just leave them alone in the end. However, despite this advice, the singer still desires this person and wants to take them out for a cappuccino. Unfortunately, every advance is met with a "no".

The content of the song takes on a darker tone as it progresses. The singer reveals that they have drilled a hole into the girls' shower to spy on this person that they're failing to have any success with. They even confess that they want to take this person to the back of their dad's car and get physical with them. The lyrics are highly suggestive and inappropriate. The singer is desperate and obsessed, and the object of their affection is unaware of how much they are loved. The chorus "I wish you would get over him, I'll change yer mind about everything!" highlights the singer's desperation to have this person for themselves.

The final verse of the song takes a reflective, somewhat optimistic tone in comparison to the desperation of the rest of the lyrics. The singer declares that they are happy with who they are and never wished to be anyone else. They invite the person they desire to come and see them, promising to make it the best time of their life. Despite this final call to action, the song remains a troubling representation of the worst aspects of unrequited love.
