Blue Magic had two more R&B chart singles in 1975 and four in 1976 before suffering a career slump, but they still managed to influence many artists, such as The Mighty Majors ('You can Never go Back'), which opened a show for them once. Still, they returned with R&B chart singles in 1981 and 1983 and made a comeback album, From Out of the Blue, in 1989.

Three Ring Circus
Blue Magic Lyrics
The whistle blows as he makes his rounds
He's seen every town west of Mississippi
He's just a face painted all in smiles
Jumpin' up and down and makin' people happy
Though deep inside a shadow grows
He could laugh and no one knows
There's a lonely man inside
Life is a three ring circus
All of the ups and downs of a carousel
That I know so well
Life is a three ring circus
Just one little ride on a merry-go-round
Goin' 'round and 'round and 'round and 'round and 'round
He does the best like the minstrel did
Just to please the kids and keep the people laughing
But no one knows that beneath the clothes
And his turned up nose lies a lonely beggar
He needs the love he spreads around
But in life he's just a clown
Till they bring the curtain down
Life is a three ring circus
All of the ups and downs of a carousel
That I know so well
Life is a three ring circus
Just one little ride on a merry-go-round
Goin' 'round and 'round and 'round and 'round and 'round
He needs the love that can't be found
But you're just too blind to see
That the clown is really needy
Life is a three ring circus
All of the ups and downs of a carousel
That I know so well
Life is a three ring circus
Just one little ride on a merry-go-round
Goin' 'round and 'round and 'round and 'round and 'round
Goin' 'round and 'round and 'round and 'round and 'round
Goin' 'round and 'round and 'round and 'round and 'round
Goin' 'round and 'round and 'round and 'round and 'round
Goin' 'round and 'round and 'round and 'round and 'round
Goin' 'round and 'round and 'round and 'round and 'round
Goin' 'round and 'round and 'round and 'round and 'round

The clown is really me not needy 😂😂

Emmanuelle...great job...really fun to sing along....but the line "That the clown is really needy" needs to be edited and corrected to say the "That the clown is really me". It is perhaps the most important line in the whole song as it puts everything into context.

How is it that I can remember the words to all these songs after all these years? I love that I grew up in the 60s and 70s.

They touched your spirit. This song reminds me of Sammy Davis' Mr. Bojangles

It never leaves our spirit...I'll be singing these jams in Heaven (or Hell, if I screw up from here on out)...
