They currently live in Japan and do many live concerts to thousands of young people. They sing in Japanese and Spanish. In 1985, Alberto won the best vocalist in Peru's singing competition with a prize of a trip to Japan. A year later, he was giving live performances in Japan. In 1991, he formed his group "Diamantes" ("Diamonds" in Spanish). In 1993, they debuted with their first album and have since released 6 albums through 1999. Alberto received his Grand Prix award with his "Kono Aoi Sora o Kimi ni" at the Manila International Music Festival in the Philippines. This ballad was dedicated to the children of the world. In August of 2000, Alberto Shiroma released his first solo album in the United States and it was a big hit. His second solo album recorded in New York in collaboration with Latin artist Marc Anthony, was also a big hit. His popularity grew when he composed the theme song "Kata Teni Sanshin Wo" for the 2nd and 3rd Worldwide Okinawa Festival in Okinawa."
