Their music is uplifting, refreshing and in constant evolution. LABtrio was founded in 2007 and has followed a remarkable path into the music scene ever since. As these Belgian musicians are growing individually and getting more experienced, the interaction has evolved into a very unique and established trio-sound. LABtrio creates a musical laboratory where influences of jazz, improvisation, and electronic music are mixed. Over the last six years they have created a rich repertoire, mainly consisting of own compositions. With that urban-influenced jazz, flirting with underground cultures, LABtrio tries incessantly to surprise themselves, each other and the audience.
LABtrio consists of three dynamic young musicians: Bram De Looze (°1991), an extremely, talented piano player, has studied jazz piano at the Lemmens Instituut (Leuven, BE) with Ron Van Rossum and at the Conservatorium of Antwerpen (Antwerp, BE) with Erik Vermeulen. He has been studying at the prestigious New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music (New York, USA) with great jazzmasters such as Marc Copland, Reggie Workman, Uri Caine and many others. Anneleen Boehme (°1989) one of Belgium’s rare female acoustic basstalents, has a classical background and has been studying jazz double bass at the Royal Conservatorium of Den Haag (The Hague, NL) with Hein van de Geyn, Frans van der Hoeven and Janos Bruneel, and at the Conservatorium of Antwerpen (Antwerp, BE) with Nicolas Thys. She is currently studying languages in Ghent. Lander Gyselinck (°1987), a well-known drummer in the Belgian Jazz and Improvised Music scene, has completed his masters degree with Stéphane Galland and Kris Defoort at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels and was awarded the prestigious Toots Thielemans Jazz Award. As well as Bram he has been studying the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music (New York) with masters such as Dan Weiss, Reggie Workman and travelling, since then, between New York and Europe. He is a member of various other succesfull Belgian bands like STUFF., Ragini Trio and Kris Defoort Trio.
LABtrio has been playing all over for the last six years: Flagey Festival, Tremplin Jazz d’Avignon Festival, a tour with Jazzlabseries and a tour with Les Lundis d’Hortenses, Jazz Kuurne, Can’Art Fest, Gent Jazz Festival, Jazz Club El Jamboree (Barcelona, Spain), Sounds Club Brussels, Music Village Brussels, Hot Club de Gand, Muntschouwburg Brussels, Handelsbeurs Gent, …
