Mavo has been influenced by many a folk song-writer, such as Paul Simon, Bob Marley, Jesse Harris, and cannot separate himself form the music of Richard Bona, the Cameroonian Bassist/vocalist. He features South African legends Hugh Masekela (flugel horn), Khaya Mahlangu (saxophonist), drummer Phillip Mentjies and percussionist Tlale Makhene. The music is freshened up by a special breed of a younger generation musicians as well.
