Rachel Stevens Lyrics

(Hey!)
He calls me when he wants
(Hey!)
I don a pair of zip-up boots (uh huh huh)
I go and shake my hair out loose (uh huh huh)
I never take my eyes off you
Oh no no, oh no no
No I don't think so
Some girls always get what they wanna wanna
All I seem to get is the other other
This won't last for long, not forever
And the champagne makes it taste so much better better
Some girls always get what they wanna wanna
All I seem to get is the other other
Dreams of number one last forever
It's the only way to make you feel better
Footloose and fancy-free
(Hey! Oh)
My baby waits for me
(Hey! Oh oh oh)
He likes to put his own records on (uh huh huh)
He likes to tell me the things he's done (uh huh huh)
Such a strange way of having fun
(Oh no no, oh no no)
And away we go
Some girls always get what they wanna wanna
All I seem to get is the other other
This won't last for long, not forever
And the champagne makes it taste so much better better
Some girls always get what they wanna wanna
All I seem to get is the other other
Dreams of number one last forever
It's the only way to make you feel better
Hey, stop!
You made a promise to make me a star
(A hat, a lift)
You made a promise I'd get to the top
(A chat, a gift)
You made a promise to make me a star
(A drink, a kiss)
You made a promise I'd get to the top
(A hit, a miss)
Some girls always get what they wanna wanna
All I seem to get is the other other
This won't last for long, not forever
And the champagne makes it taste so much better better
Some girls always get what they wanna wanna
All I seem to get is the other other
Dreams of number one last forever
It's the only way to make you feel better
(You made a promise to make me a star)
Some girls always get what they wanna wanna
(You made a promise I'd get to the top)
All I seem to get is the other other
(You made a promise to make me a star)
This won't last for long, not forever
(You made a promise I'd get to the top)
And the champagne makes it taste so much better better
(You made a promise to make me a star)
Some girls always get what they wanna wanna
(You made a promise I'd get to the top)
All I seem to get is the other other
Dreams of number one last forever
It's the only way to make you feel better.
The lyrics in Rachel Stevens's "Some Girls" explores the idea of fame and success, with a focus on the harsh reality that not everyone can achieve it. Stevens sings about her longing for the life of a successful woman who seems to have it all, while acknowledging her own struggles with getting what she wants. In the first verse, she describes her boyfriend as someone who has what he wants and calls her when he wants to see her, showing the power dynamic in their relationship. Stevens then sings about how she puts on her zip-up boots, shakes her hair out, and never takes her eyes off him, highlighting her desperation to be with him.
Stevens then moves on to the pre-chorus where she sings "Some girls always get what they wanna wanna, All I seem to get is the other other," emphasising how some women are fortunate enough to have everything they wish for and how she, on the other hand, holds the short end of the stick. In the chorus, Stevens repeats the phrase "Some girls always get what they wanna wanna" and adds that the champagne they drink tastes so much better, which could be a metaphor for how much more enjoyable life is when you are successful. The second verse describes Stevens's carefree lifestyle, where she doesn't have any responsibilities and her boyfriend waits for her.
Overall, the lyrics represent the desire for success and the feeling of constantly falling short, despite one's efforts. The song serves as an anthem for those who have big dreams but haven't been able to make them a reality.
