There's something to be said for what I think Sephiroth has planned....

(SPOILER'S AHEAD!!!!!)

Aerith dying is probably one of the most traumatic yet galvanizing events in video game history. Not only was her death completely from out of nowhere, heartbreaking, but also crucial for getting the group to fully unite to stop Sephiroth once and for all. Not to mention that advantage that Aerith had from w/i the planet to stop his plans from coming to fruition. Sephiroth's return in this alternate timeline amounts to the events of the last game leading to a stalemate w/ neither of them being able to destroy the other, hence why him and Aerith are aware of the alternate timelines.

It all makes Sephiroth's proposition during the final fight both enticing and dangerous. Red XIII already confirmed that the ending of the original was the darkest timeline, one where they failed. That combined w/ Cloud's visions of him seeing Aerith dead at the alter along w/ his flashes of how he felt at that moment might be the catalyst for accidentally helping Sephiroth w/ his plans. Aerith seems all but ready to die once she's left the city, but if Cloud saves her it could doom the planet even worse than last time.

I can't wait to see how this plays out, and how events from here on will change.

Probably my favorite track from the original. I remember telling people that I can’t wait to hear this in remake part 2 or 3 or whatever, then I heard this at the end. The game is already arguably my favorite game of all time, easily one of the best games I’ve played in years but damn hearing that just made the whole game for me even more

Here’s my theory: after killing Destiny itself (which was honestly pretty stupid to be), Sephiroth acknowledges this and wants cloud (or specifically the player) to make different choices than the original game with him and take different routes and get different outcomes which might eventually lead to him winning. However you still have the choice to go the original route, which will lead to his defeat. It’s all based on player preference.

This is an amazing edit, I love the added melody during the battle section. Only critique is to make the melody more in sync in the part between 3:17 - 3:42. The way it is before all that sounds awesome and like it could blend well with the calmly edited ending to this track. All in all, fantastic piecing this together.
