Queen of Wands
SPELLLING Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You′d better thank me
For living, for living
You're in grave danger
Waving wands with wizards
Are you afraid
Of the power?
Are you afraid
Of the pain, ooh
Or the power?
The lyrics to SPELLLING's song "Queen of Wands" explore themes of power, danger and fear. The song begins with the lines "Thank me, you'd better thank me, for living, for living." Here, the singer seems to be addressing someone who may have taken her for granted or overlooked her contributions. The implication is that simply being alive is something to be appreciated and celebrated. However, the tone of the lyrics quickly turns ominous, with the warning that "you're in grave danger" and the suggestion that someone is playing with dangerous forces by "waving wands with wizards."
The chorus of the song repeats the question "Are you afraid of the power? Are you afraid of the pain or the power?" The ambiguity of this line is interesting, as it could be interpreted in multiple ways. Is the singer challenging someone to confront their fears of power and pain, or is she cautioning them against seeking power without fully understanding the potential consequences? Thematically, "Queen of Wands" feels like a warning against recklessness and the temptation to play with forces beyond our control. There's a sense of danger and foreboding throughout the song that creates a sense of tension, even though the music itself is dreamy and atmospheric.

The Turning Wheel is the most exciting album I've heard in years. Thank you for your music.
@so.beats.
One of the twelve of my favorite songs on the album♥
@Spelllingmae
You’re amazing!! I wish ‘The Turning Wheel’ was a full visual album, it’s mesmerizing how your music can be so cinematic and powerful
@milk_bath
Absolutely, if any album deserves a full visual album it is this one!
@f4gsforpele
Well it might just be, she continues to make mvs for it
@milk_bath
@@f4gsforpele Hard disagree. We’ve only gotten 3 within a year. That’s below par for a lot of artist music video output for an album.
@f4gsforpele
@@milk_bath not sure why you’re saying that when I didn’t state any opinions. But anyway 1) we’re still in the middle of a pandemic and it was a lot worse then 2) music videos are expensive and Spellling is (unfortunately) a pretty small artist, 3) it’s not even been a year yet and idk about you but I’d rather have 3 HQ videos than a bunch of mediocre ones.
@milk_bath
@@f4gsforpele I get all that. I misread the semantics of your comment. My apologies.
@billkormas3460
one of the hardest tracks in the album

when you know it’s irrational for a song to get better after seeing its music video but it somehow does
