I feel trapped and isolated like a painting hanging on a wall

I may be going through a growing pains or transition period that will eventually resolve

But I'm not just being blue
My feelings of sadness or loneliness are valid, but there is more to me than that

'Cause I have fallen, shape and color too
I have depth and complexity beyond my emotional state, like other aspects of an artwork

But I miss you
I long for connection with someone, possibly a specific person

I miss the content
I miss the substance and meaning that comes with meaningful relationships and experiences

That is the focus, that is what all this school is reading to us
We are taught to value and prioritize real life experiences and relationships over art theory or technique

All just a part of what I am
My emotions are just one facet of my identity

It's just a part of my beating heart
My emotions are a natural part of my humanity

Beating for you
I am seeking connection with a specific person or people

So I beg you please
I am desperate for human connection and asking for help

Please wrap me up, please take me up
I want to be held and comforted by someone else

Please hold me close unto your breast
I want to feel physically close and connected with someone else

Run down the stairs
I want to escape and break free from my current state

Out in open air
I want to experience a sense of freedom and openness

Away from the ladies, the Japanese tourists
I want to escape from the crowds and have a more intimate experience

Their guards won't notice cause I'm so hopeless
I feel insignificant and unimportant in the grand scheme of things

Take me wherever you really only came from
I want to go where the person I am seeking connection with is from

I am willing to sacrifice my own identity or well-being to be with this person
