Setting Sail Coming Home
Darren Korb Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Lie on my back
Clouds are makin' way for me
I'm comin' home, sweet home

Build that wall and
build it strong 'cause
we'll be there before too long

I dig my hole, you build a wall
I dig my hole, you build a wall
One day that wall is gonna fall

Gon' build that wall up to the sky
Gon' build that wall up to the sky
One day your bird is gonna fly

Build that wall and
build it strong 'cause
we'll be there before too long

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Darren Korb's song, Setting Sail Coming Home, tells a story of a person's journey towards homecoming. The opening line, "Lie on my back, clouds are makin' way for me" creates a sense of surrendering oneself to the journey. The singer is looking up at the sky, hoping that the clouds part to facilitate their journey back home. As the song progresses, we hear the chorus, "Build that wall and build it strong cause we'll be there before too long." This refers to the singer's journey as being laborious, and it is necessary to endure the hardships to reach home.

The lines "I dig my hole, you build a wall, one day that wall is gonna fall" create a sense of rebellion against obstacle and oppression. Here, the "hole" refers to the singer's pursuit, and the "wall" represents the roadblocks they confront while on the journey. Despite these, the singer is stubborn and determined and is confident that someday the barrier will crumble.

The last verse, "Gon' build that wall up to the sky, one day your bird is gonna fly" signifies that the journey doesn't end with the homecoming. It aims to convey that the singer may reach the pinnacle of success and prosperity. They may be able to move beyond the limitations they once faced, and their goals and aspirations may take flight. The song gives hope that every effort towards one's pursuit is worthwhile.

I set my sail
Fly, the wind will take me
Back to my home
Sweet home

Clouds are making way for me
I coming home
Sweet home
I see your star, you left it burning for me.
(Build that wall and build it strong cause)
Mother, I'm here
(We'll be there before too long)
Eyes open wide

I take your hand
(Gon' build that wall up to the sky)

I love this song and each of the characters themes on their own but zulfs hits me really hard since my mom is my only living parent and if she ever passed this song would make me instantly think of her.

Oh mother, and here I figured you'd had enough of me by now. You could have undone the Calamity itself, but instead you chose to stay? in a world like this? I gotta admit kid, I ain't put much thought into that idea. Of carrying on. With you here. We can't go back now, but I suppose we could go... wherever we please. And if anyone's left out there, I would sure like to see their faces, when we dock this thing right on their doorstep. Gettin' ahead of myself though, I'm going to need a first mate. Whaddaya say?

You Chose To Save Zulf, Or No. You Chose To Evacuate, Rather To Undo The Terror Across The Land, Rather To Fix The Mistakes, You Just Dont Want To Fix It, You Wanna Keep It. But You Created A New Place, The Bastion, Now You Can Sail With The People You Worked With To Build And Fix The Safe Haven.
