Ratzinger was the creative force behind Wumpscut, occasionally employing the help of others as guest artists. Ratzinger cites the influence of such bands as Leæther Strip as his reason for making the transfer from DJing to recording music.
The release of the song "Soylent Green", which is named after the 1973 movie and also contains audio samples from the German dubbed version, first attracted attention to Wumpscut. Since its release in 1993, it has become a frequently played song at events and clubs in the gothic and industrial subcultures and its associated splinter groups, both in Germany and the United States.
So far Ratzinger has published numerous recordings and remixes for other artists. Wumpscut is also very well known for elaborate box set releases including limited versions of a CD or LP release in a box with additional and often also limited bonus material (bonus tracks, energy drinks, posters, pins, stickers, bags, flags, etc.). Wumpscut albums are reissued regularly with variant artworks and occasionally bonus tracks. Standalone merchandise is also available such as caps, mugs, etc.

Dudes
:Wumpscut: Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I'm asking what to do
Should I deal with?
Should I don't?
No matter when deside to move
The heart of the dead man is throbbing in the net
On my stroke
On my stroke of live
On my stroke
On my stroke of live
"The devil"
Dudek!
What's in vision?
"The devil"
Durn in hell
If you want to do
Burn in hell
If you can stand the flames
Burn in hell
If you can scare the fire
"The devil"
Go!
"The devil"
Dudek
You're choking harder
Coming faster
Yeah, Dudek
Yeah, Dudek
Yeah, Dudek
The lyrics of :wumpscut:'s song "Dudes" tell the story of a man who finds himself at the gates of Hell and is unsure whether to deal with the devil or not. The singer is clearly conflicted and doesn't know what to do, contemplating whether or not to make a deal with the devil. The phrase "dudes" is repeated throughout the song, reinforcing the idea that the man is surrounded by evil entities, and their intentions are unclear. The bridge of the song features the sound of a beating heart, highlighting the singer's fear and trepidation as he contemplates his next move. The end of the song has an almost primal, frenzied feel to it as the singer seems to give in to the devil's demands and succumbs to his fate.
The song has a primal, frenzied energy that plays into the idea of being consumed by evil, personified by the devil. The repetition of the phrase "dudes" is an unusual choice, and adds a sense of rhythm and urgency to the song. The phrase is repeated almost like a chant, and it becomes increasingly ominous as the song progresses. The song is clearly designed to be unsettling, with the sound of a beating heart and lyrics that play into the idea of being consumed by darkness.
