Putting this here so my kids and I can sing along. AO CM

Star of the East, Oh Bethlehem's star,
Guiding us on to Heaven afar!
Sorrow and grief are lull'd by thy light,
Thou hope of each mortal, in death's lonely night!

Fearless and tranquil, we look up to Thee!
Knowing thou beam'st thro' eternity!
Help us to follow where Thou still dost guide,
Pilgrims of earth so wide.

Oh star that leads to God above!
Whose rays are peace and joy and love!
Watch o'er us still till life hath ceased,
Beam on, bright star, sweet Bethlehem star!

My mom was in charge of the Sunday school, which included the children's performances. I was about 7 or 8? She would have me sing this as a solo in church for several years.
Funny, I had never heard Judy Garland sing this.
She was a Minnesota girl also.
Nice to hear after all these years.

My late Mother loved this song. She endured many hardships in her long life, but I will always remember her listening to this song on an old 78 RPM when I was a kid, and humming along with it with tears in her eyes, but always a beautiful, reassuring smile for us kids when it ended. I return here every Christmas Eve to listen to it many times. Thank you for this post. God bless everyone, on this Christmas Eve 2018. May next year be a better one for all.
