坂本龍一 Lyrics

You do me anyone with eyes can see
I do you Everybody knows it's true.
Day to day that's the way our game is played.
Night to night that's the way to love you right.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to the song "You Do Me" by 坂本龍一 are straightforward and revolve around the idea of a give and take relationship. The first line "You do me anyone with eyes can see" suggests that the person singing the song is being cared for or given attention by someone else. The second line "I do you Everybody knows it's true" implies that the person singing the song is reciprocating that attention or care in some way.

The chorus "Day to day that's the way our game is played. Night to night that's the way to love you right." emphasizes the regularity of this give and take relationship. The person singing the song seems to be acknowledging that this is just how their relationship works and that it is perhaps best to just accept it. The phrase "the way to love you right" adds a layer of romanticism to the song, suggesting that this give and take is not just platonic but also a part of their romantic relationship.

@peterwright4093

Even the case/artwork on this CD is unsurpassed, and every track superb. Yesterday, at my daughter's suggestion, this was played for our father/daughter wedding dance, and when the deejay brought it down and then ramped it up again, the dance floor exploded with rompers who were decades away from being born when this record dropped. Powerful stuff!

@MisAnnThorpe

This sounds more Prince than Prince and even has Prince's "protege", Jill Jones on vocals!

@vitoragra4203

MisAnnThorpe, this record has something like 30 musicians and singers, in the whole. From Brian Wilson to Youssou N´Dor or Arto Linsay. Amazing. But, yes, it has some tracks kind of funk stuff.

@TheRegularjoe1365

Ingrid Chavez showed up on some Sakamoto material around this time; she was part of Prince's circle as well and went on to marry David Sylvian (long time Sakamoto collaborator).
