Takeuchi started her own career with a single "Modotte-Oide, Watashi no Jikan" in 1978. From the late 1970s to the early '80s, she has recorded 5 albums and several singles including top-ten hit "Fushigi na Peach Pie". Those materials have featured dozens of Japanese and North American distinguished songwriters, instrumentalists, and producers, such as David Foster, Jim Keltner, Jay Graydon, Steve Lukather, Jeff Porcaro, David Hungate, Kazuhiko Kato, Kunihiko Kase, Shigeru Suzuki, Takashi Matsumoto, and her future long-term partner Tatsuro Yamashita.
"Heart to Heart", one of her songs co-written by Roger Nichols and released in 1980, was recorded by the Carpenters two years later, and became the last recording for the late Karen Carpenter.
In 1981, Takeuchi married to a singer-songwriter Tatsuro Yamashita, and stopped her career temporarily owing to the pregnancy. After her comeback to the Japanese music industry in 1984, she has accomplished huge commercial success more than when she was single. From that year to the present, she has recorded 6 successful studio albums that mainly consisted of her self-penned songs, and all of them have reached #1 on the Japanese Oricon chart.
As a singer-songwriter, she has produced 8 top-ten hit singles on the Oricon, including "Single Again", "Kokuhaku", "Junai Rhapsody", "Konya wa Hearty Party" and her only #1 hit "Camouflage".

Ah 素敵な偶然 (synchronicity, synchronicity, here comes again)
Ah あなたと (synchronicity, synchronicity, here comes again)
出逢った日からの (you can sing it)
Ah 私がひらめき (synchronicity, synchronicity, here comes again)
(I love you, love you)
(So special)
(You can sing it) シンクロニシティ
The lyrics of 竹内まりや's song "シンクロニシティ" capture the concept of serendipitous moments and fateful encounters. The lyrics describe how the singer and her partner experience coincidences that lead them to believe in the power of destiny. The opening verse, for example, suggests that the couple often has the same dreams, which is a strange but common occurrence for them. Later, the verse that describes how they both fell in love while reading the same novel in a cafe implies that their connection was meant to be predetermined. The song continues to describe how the couple experienced moments of synchronicity multiple times, such as when they heard the song they were hoping to listen to or when they both said "I love you" at the same moment.
The word "シンクロニシティ" itself is a term coined by the Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung that describes the idea of meaningful coincidences that occur with no causal relationship. Through the lyrics, the singer and her partner come to believe that these moments of synchronicity are not just coincidental but rather fated occurrences. The overall tone of the song is uplifting, with a melody that matches the energy of the lyrics. The upbeat pop sound of the song enhances the happy feeling of the lyrics, making it a feel-good track that is enjoyable to listen to.

Synchronicity.....
