The song is about a young bride riding a pony. She's traveling to the next village to get married and understandably, she's so happy that " her heart is dancing with joy."
She is bringing a parrot in a cage as her present to her future husband's family.
She and her pony pass by a coconut grove as the blood-red sun goes down. Then she stops her pony by a stream and sees her reflection in the water.
A very happy, lighthearted song. Very popular in WWII particularly among Japanese troops enroute to the front.

亡き母がよく口ずさんでいました。母の声は伸びやかな澄んだ高音で、鈴の音のような響きでした。幼い私は何となく気恥ずかしさを感じながら、母の歌を聞いていました。高峰さんの歌はとても懐かしく何度聞いても、自然と母を偲ぶ心が湧いてきます。また、小柳ルミ子さんの歌も高峰さんに負けず劣らず素敵ですね。曲も歌詞も素晴らしいからでしょうね。
