The debuted on January 10, 2012 with "독하게 (Potently)", followed by their first mini album 러시안룰렛 (Russian Roulette).

The group released a repackaged mini album Painkiller on March 29, 2012, promoting the title track "Painkiller".

They went on to release a total of three mini albums (including the repackage), six digital singles and three promotional singles, as well as a single by the sub-unit SPICA.S (스피카.S), which included Sihyun, Narae, Jiwon and Bohyung.

Spica is the best REAL kpop singers! Awesome voices and very underrated for such awesome talent, not to mention all of them are beautiful also! They are first on my list, if ever they go to the states i will gladly see them cause i know they will perform live!!!!!

My favorite Spica song 💙 It's their debut single and my girls were screaming "Hey we're Spica and we're here to conquer the world!" Definitely one of the most strongest and powerful kpop girl groups of all time, one of the best (visually and vocally/talent wise) yet an underrated one. I miss my girls so much! In fact I really love their voices :) It's really beautiful. When I heard them performed for the first time I was shocked that they were not just pretty but really have talented voices which leave me a good impression on them. I mean not all girl groups have all the members that can sing (I mean in a talented way) but Spica they are singers and I hope that other people would appreciate them and know that they are really talented. I really like them

Wow, I'm really impressed! First, their vocals are quite outstanding. Also, the song is REALLY good. Sounds like they are going with a different route music-wise compared to many new girl groups. I can't wait to hear more from them. So far, I'm really loving what I'm hearing from this group. I don't mind the fact that Hyori is in the MV. She looks great and the MV is interesting.

Love the song wow... and whatever people say about Hyori this is great publicity for the group and I must say I loved the mv for not being just about beautiful shots of members while the public triest to put voices to their faces but being more like a short film starring their talented labelmate. It would've been hard having 4 of them pull of such a dramatic video without it being too much. Simple, clean and beautiful - everything

Honestly speaking, I wasn't going to really pay too much attention to SPICA because I've been so disappointed with the other female debuts lately, but when I heard this track I was stunned. Their voices are beautiful. And there's no aegyo (not that I don't enjoy aegyo from time to time), it's not highly stylized, no gimmicks, and most importantly no crappy vocals! I love catchy idol music, but sometimes I just want to hear a really good song like this. Lots of luck to SPICA. :)
