Heart Shaped Glasses
Marilyn Manson Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

She reminds me of the one in school
When I was gutted, she was dressed in white
And I couldn't take my eyes off her
But that's not what I took off that night
She'll never cover up what we did with her dress
No
She said, "Kiss me, it'll heal but it won't forget."
"Kiss me, it'll heal but it won't forget."

I don't mind you keeping me on pins and needles
If I could stick to you and you stick me, too

Don't break, don't break my heart
And I won't break your heart shaped glasses
Little girl, little girl, you should close your eyes
That blue is getting me high
Don't break, don't break my heart
And I won't break your heart shaped glasses
Little girl, little girl, you should close your eyes
That blue is getting me high, making me low
That blue is getting me high, making me low

She reminds me of the one I knew that cut up the negatives of my life
I couldn't take my hands off her; she wouldn't let me be anywhere but inside

And I don't mind you keeping me on pins and needles
If I could stick to you and you stick me, too

Just don't break, don't break my heart
And I won't break your heart shaped glasses
Little girl, little girl, you should close your eyes
That blue is getting me high
Don't break, don't break my heart
And I won't break your heart shaped glasses
Little girl, little girl, you should close your eyes
That blue is getting me high, making me low

She'll never cover up what we did with her dress
No
She said, "Kiss me, it'll heal but it won't forget."
"Kiss me, it'll heal but it won't forget."

I don't mind you keeping me on pins and needles
If I could stick to you and you could stick me, too

Don't break, don't break my heart
And I won't break your heart shaped glasses
Little girl, little girl, you should close your eyes
That blue is getting me high
Don't break, don't break my heart
And I won't break your heart shaped glasses

Little girl, little girl, you should close your eyes
That blue is getting me high, making me low

Overall Meaning

"Heart Shaped Glasses" by Marilyn Manson is a song about love and lust. It is about a girl who reminds the singer of someone he knew in school, whom he had a sexual encounter with. The girl in the song is seen by the singer as the perfect combination of his past and present desires. The song's chorus reflects the idea that they are both taking risks by allowing themselves to be vulnerable to each other.

The lyrics of "Heart Shaped Glasses" are full of sexual imagery, most of which is centered around the color blue, which is a symbol of lust and passion. The girl in the song claims that a kiss from her will heal, but not forget, which the singer finds alluring, as it shows a willingness to explore desires and passions beyond the ordinary. Despite the dangers they face, the two decide to stick together, hoping that their love will not break each other's hearts.

In conclusion, this song is about how Marilyn Manson views love and how he sees it in a darker, more sexual way. It highlights the singer's desire to be with someone who excites him, but the risks involved if they don't succeed.

Alexander Payne was falsely accused of rape (statutory rape) by Rose McGowan.

She claimed he asked her out when she was 15 in 1988, brought her back to his place and showed her a soft-porn movie he had directed under a different name for Showtime, and initiated sex with her, then put her in his car and dropped her off at a random street corner.

Everything from her story turned out to be false: They met in 1991, not 1988, making her 18. He had never directed anything for Showtime, and had never directed under a pseudonym. He never directed anything professionally until 1991, and they actually met when Rose auditioned for him in 1991 and left her number at the casting desk, telling the person to have Alexander call her. Alexander was 26 at the time.

The timeline can be proved by the lack of tax records and crew members from a production for Showtime prior to 1991, or any other time.

There are no tax records for Alexander Payne at Showtime, which would have been under Alexander’s legal name, even if he used a pseudonym.

Rose McGowan is a liar and a false accuser.

@FocusedFighter777

Dont know about him personally, but if a person gets denounced several times by plenty of other people (men, bandmates!, women, his mom!), it's because there must be some truth to it , no????

Doesnt matter if "he saved your life" with his music.... doesnt prove anything, doesnt prove he is a good person.
Why cant people see this?

We dont know him personaly. But shouldnt you know the stuff he kept saying over the years: now red flags even more???

Despite everything, you guys are still ready to protect him.

MM has exactly what he wanted: sheeps as fans.

@wildmercuryfilms

She’s a liar.

Here’s a quote from a Rolling Stone story from 2016, where she explicitly claims it wasn’t real sex. By the way, they broke up in 2010, so this is 6 YEARS AFTER they broke up. He didn’t have any influence over her about talking to the press in 2016:

“So Wood did what made sense at the time: At 18, she went to the Chateau Marmont, met Marilyn Manson (then 36 and married to Dita Von Teese), started dating him, and subsequently appeared, Lolita-like, in a video for “Heart-Shaped Glasses,” groping her nether region and then making out with Manson as fake blood rains upon them in a video so graphic that the sex was rumored to have been real (she says it wasn’t).”

Also:

“No one was looking after me.”

That’s a lie, per her own words below: Her mom tried, and she alludes to others trying, but she refused.

The Interview with Rolling Stone Magazine was published on November 17, 2016. Evan Rachel Wood talking about Marilyn Manson: “I met somebody that promised freedom and expression and no judgments,” she says. “And I was craving danger and excitement. I looked at my mother one day and said, ‘Mom, I’m gonna get on this tour bus for eight months and see the world and have a crazy journey and find myself, and if people aren’t OK with that, I’m sorry, but I can’t live my life for other people.’ ”

In the interview, she explicitly said they didn’t have sex in the video.

So she’s DEFINITELY LYING: She’s either lying then or now. Either way, she lied.

Here is the link. The date is November 17, 2016. The date is key, because in 2017, the PoundMeToo movement started, where women began to “REVISE HISTORY,” turning their consensual relationships into BABY-VICTIMHOOD STORIES. Too bad this interview wasn’t a year later, because by then she would have gotten THE SCRIPT:
