I would love to see a reboot of Mr Personality, and even a Mrs Personality! It's such a crazy premise that it would get people watching and it could have a good underlying message of "don't judge a book by their cover" Society these days are more focused on how someone looks than anything else, even with the body positivity movement and "going natural" ideals. We all love the Masked Singer right now because we "don't know" who the celebrity is therefore cannot make judgements based on their pasts or looks (if we knew T-Pain was on season one we wouldn't have let him go far due to the stigma around him)

I'm not a troll, I don't consider myself so unattractive that I wouldn't get a date based on my looks alone, I'm not a crazed boomer, basically not anything negative that is about to be flung my way. I'm merely stating an opinion based on my personal experiences and observations.

I knew TLC was spiraling down when both they and A&E I think did shows on Hoarding. A&E got it right that it's a mental disorder and took time to find out why the person was hoarding and to provide mental support. TLC's show was more for just entertainment, more of "look how gross they are!" with little mental support and a lot of trashing of things, which if not talked through, can just make a hoarder worse.

Wanted to point something out to people who say this is an American phenomenon: almost all reality competition shows in the U.S. are actually imports from other countries, with the exception of the one and only homegrown U.S. show: RuPaul's Drag Race, every other show is from another nation, google any of them. American Idol, The Voice, Shark Tank, Top Model, Ameria's Got Talent, even oldies like America's Funniest home videos, fear factor, deal or no deal, dancing with the stars, antique's roadshow, and even the sports ones like "american ninja warrior", etc. etc. etc. all of em, except for RuPaul. RuPaul is the only American to introduce a new reality competition show to the U.S. Deal with it.

I can't believe I'm even saying this but the Vanilla Ice show was actually good. I watched the whole series when it aired and I probably watch it again if it was on tv and I was bored.

One important note, though: the actual Masked Magician was in the closing years of his marriage at that time, so even if Fox was willing to work with him again (and they weren't), it was too soon.

I was very surprised at number 1, I am danish and have seen the reality show it is based on, and in my country Toddlers and Tiaras would be way more controversial. I am guessing it is because we don't see marriage the same way in my country, because most people find this show intriguing and interesting, to see if it is possible to find your match based on expert assessment. And if it doesn't work out, you can always divorce. Maybe it is because marriage is more religious and considered more binding in the US.

I think you missed a deep cut in the show Kid Nation which was a Lord of the Flies type show set in New Mexico where 40 kids established a functioning society in an old frontier town lmfao.

I remember that the Are You Hot show was stolen from Howard Stern and he already sold the TV rights to Showtime. But because of the failure of Are You Hot, Showtime dropped theirs. Howard ended up suing the production company for stealing the show. The "creator" of Are You Hot was one of the former crew member of Howard Stern's E Show.

It reminded me of that one dating show where you meet a few people in a pitch black room and make a decision on which one you want to date based on their voice, kiss, and touch. I don't remember the name of it though.

It "helped" me a lot by introducing me to the whole 'pick up art' concept, which led me to not only have a surprising amount of sex, but also to get into a few relationships, and feel more comfortable around people, making new friends, getting into new groups. It taught me how to be popular, which turned out to be a very fleeting and superficial thing, but it was good to experience something like that and learn what it was like.
