In "Ledena Pustos," 1389 captures the icy grip of winter and its power to bring death and devastation to all in its path. The lyrics describe the winter storm rushing in, covering everything in a white cloak of snow and ice. The bitter cold brings suffering and pain to the "old pagans," and many will die prematurely due to the cold. As they pass on to the next world, their memory is frozen in time, their monuments and graves marked by the icy wasteland that now covers the land.
Despite the overwhelming power of winter and its ability to freeze everything in its path, the lyrics hold on to the hope that spring will eventually come. Though it may take years for the frozen land to thaw, the forgotten souls of the past will still wander the forest paths forever. The song also speaks to the strength and resilience of life, as roots that were once frozen and dead find a way to break through the ice and find new life.
The themes of death, rebirth, and the cyclical nature of life and death are all present in this haunting track. The imagery of the icy landscape and the toll it takes on the living is conveyed through the powerful vocals and raw instrumentation.
