Update: So the new Dune movie is out, and in return it has brought attention to many of you who come to see the legendary Spice Diver edit. I highly encourage you all to please subscribe to Spice Diver's channel in order to bring attention to his amazing work as all the credit goes to him: https://www.youtube.com/user/spicediver

I also understand the quality of this video is of course in the style of 480p, and that is unfortunatly due to it at the time the only quality I had in my possession, but thanks to recent interests of Lynch's version and the Spice Diver edit, another fan has went back and utilized A.I. machine learning to increase the video quality to an incredible 4k picture on all scenes as well as on the cut scenes. Channel Grid Gaming created this upscaled version which you can find at his channel here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=faHQA_0d9Mo Give him your undenying support, as his creation is an absoloute gem bringing fantastic visuals to this edit.

I hope you all do get the chance to go to theaters to see the new Dune movie by director Denis Villeneuve and you enjoy it as much as I do, and that you also enjoy the fan edit of Lynch's version to those fans around. Thank you very much for spreading the word of this magnificent edit, I am forever greatful to have this on my channel for us all to enjoy. Thank you Spice Diver, and to you all for watching, David Lynch's original vision may now be fully realized.

Until then fellow Spice Divers, the Sleeper has Awaken.

Yeah, I and my wife caught the new movie today and I thought it would be appropriate to treat myself to a repeat viewing of this 1984 version. I've never understood the hate this movie seems to have garnered over the years because, regardless of how "faithful" an adaptation from the book it may have been it's still one hell of a movie. I've always had a soft spot for this film and the restored scenes sort of help flesh it out a bit more. David Lynch, I think, was most successful in capturing the essential weirdness of the Duneiverse in this movie and Brian Eno and Toto crafted a better score even than Hans Zimmer's for the new film, good as Zimmer is, while the new movie shows more of the layers of the Duneiverse. I ended up as absorbed in that film as I get with this one. They're both good productions.

was good while it lasted

I read/watched nothing but a trailer before watching the new movie. As amazing a production as it was, I had no idea it was only part of the story. And the part of the story it covered left out crucial, essential information. It told us nothing of the Guild navigators or how they folded space, nothing whatsoever about mentats (and their "stained" lips looked more like an intentional tattoo), and almost nothing of the Bene Gesserit sisterhood and their quest to produce the supreme being. Oh, and the box scene was super weak. It's fine that they catered to the woke making some Fremen black, but making Kines a woman? Nope. I left the new movie thinking they would do like Lord of ths Rings and come out with an extended dvd version that fills in the gaps before a part 2 and then subsequent extended edition of that with the final combined work being 7-8 hours long. That would be killer because stylistically the new movie was badass. But I'm seeing HBO is supposedly doing a direct to streaming series obout the Bene Gesserit so maybe the movie won't ultimately fill in some of that crucial info.
This edit of Lynch's original work stll remains a masterpiece to me, and in just a half hour more than the new film gives enough of the details to capture the essence of the book.
If you are in the USA, use a VPN to route to Canada to be able to watch this.

@Ms. Ann Thrope PDX ... "This edit of Lynch's original work stll remains a masterpiece to me, and in just a half hour more than the new film gives enough of the details to capture the essence of the book."
- That is technically incorrect though, because the 1984 Spicediver & theatrical cuts are the entire first book story, while the 2021 Part 1 movie is only half the story. In effect, the Spicediver cut is the entire 1st book story at 3 hours total, while the Villeneuve version is a total of around 4-5 hours long, depending if Part 2 coming in 2023 will also be 2.5 hours long (2.5+2.5=5 hrs).

@IDGAF_PLUS

@Rob webnoid Errr, you basically said exactly what I said. Spicediver is 3hrs, Villenueve is 2.5, so half hour difference. Yes, a Villenueve part 2 would make it 5 total, but if they do extended versions to fill in gaps it will be 6-7 hours total.

I don’t know if people truly realize how awesome it is to have this edition on YouTube. Highly recommend you take the time to watch this fan edit version of the film as it may not be up here forever.
EDIT: I changed last sentence from saying that it won’t be up here for long to saying that it may not be up here forever.

tpb has it, and it's a must have for all long time dune fans. Probably no better 1980's movie edition of it. If someone could fix the shields and maybe take a tiny bit of cringe out it'd be spot on perfection.

@solarpanel8195

Is this rare or something? I just started getting iN to Dune. This story is frikn amazing. Ordered all the books the other day (the rest of them) and I have a strong urge to gather some collectors items too lol. This movie left out SOOOO many details though/and even a couple twists that were fun to read... Hopefully the new movie coming out has all the twists and details the book has...
