2) AK is a pop/R&B singer born and raised within the suburb of Maplewood, NJ. She began focusing on her singing career at the tender age of 12 after receiving the tragic news that her dad was diagnosed with cancer. Singing and listening to music countless hours of the day helped relieve her from the stress of her father's medical situation. During the last stages of his illness, AK serenaded her father with Mariah Carey's "Butterfly." It was his admiration towards her vocal talent that led her to continue the singing path as a way to help others get through their everyday struggles.
In the 8th grade, AK formed a group, Sweet, and wrote her first song, Just Look. Branching off before high school, she hit the studio to record her first original solo song, Dreamin, at the age of 14. A.K. finally realized how powerful her singing was while attending Columbia High School, alma Mata of Lauryn Hill. While at Columbia High School, she joined the MLK Gospel Choir and was chosen as the lead vocalist although she was the only white member. While there, she was accepted by everyone despite race, gender, age due to her vocal capability.
Her musical influences are Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, and Aretha Franklin. People have already compared A.K. to a younger version of Christina Aguilera with her powerful voice. A.K. is determined to achieve any goal. She is always up for a challenge and proves that she has true determination. From putting in 12 hours a day in the studio, she proves that hard work pays off. In 2007, A.K. won first place in the R&B genre at "Faces in the Crowd" in New York City.
From singing her heart to the world to expressing herself through her dance moves, A.K. is a well-rounded performer with a true essence of Pop with a strong undeniable R&B sound.
Break from Politics

Too many arguments
Too many voices at once
Too many views in politics
We're yelling at each other have you ever seen the news?
Hysteria and screaming, whatever gets the views
Debates full of hate
Every word is disrespect
Even people on the left, look at yourself close
We're turning into the people that we hated the most
If I say nothing then I stand with the oppressor
But do the words I say really bring us more together?
Left and right divide widens with every word
You can see the bridge between us and it's starting to burn
My mama told me speak with your mind, listen with your heart
Politics is crazy it's tearing us apart
The only place I feel I can escape is in the art
So this might not fix it all but, it's a start
There are times I hate what you saying
But I still love you, but I still love you
There are times I hate what you saying
But I still love you, but I still love you
What good is this song though?
What good is this tape?
If you're hearing this now then we already relate
Fam, we on the same page
The fact that you even like rap means you're a liberal under the age of 28
So what boundaries am I breaking? Whose minds am I changing?
News feed like Taco Bell: different name, same shit
We never see things that challenge our opinions
And when we do, we dismiss it, that's the way we've been conditioned
I hold opinions 'bout those I know nothing about
'Cause to be honest with you man I've never been to the south
We only see extremes 'cause that's what makes headlines
So very few represent the views on both sides
I'm tired of CNN representing me and my thoughts
I'm tired of judging you based on what people say on Fox
I know good Republicans and bad Democrats
So let's take a break from politics and talk man to man
We're all hypocrites man I'm no exception
I have my views in place and it's hard to change 'em
To be honest I identify too much with my thoughts
And admitting that I'm wrong means letting go of a part of who I am
So look, I'm not saying we'll agree
But I don't think those debates that we watch on TV
Is representative of you or represents me either
Together, we're greater than the lesser of two evils
There are times I hate what you saying
But I still love you, but I still love you
There are times I hate what you saying
But I still love you, but I still love you
In the song "Break from Politics" by A.K., the lyrics delve into the overwhelming nature of the current political climate. The opening lines express the frustration with the multitude of issues, arguments, and voices that dominate the political landscape. The lyrics highlight the toxic nature of political debates, filled with hate and disrespect, devoid of humility or willingness to admit when one is incorrect. A.K. points out that even those who claim to be on the left are becoming the very people they despise.
The artist questions the effectiveness of his own words in bringing people together and laments the growing divide between the left and the right, which is fueled by every spoken word. Despite this, A.K. acknowledges the importance of expressing oneself and listening with empathy. The song suggests that politics is tearing society apart, and the only solace the artist finds is in the realm of art, although it may not provide a complete solution.
The second part of the song addresses the listener directly, acknowledging their shared outlook and agreement on certain issues. A.K. comments on the tendency to surround oneself with like-minded people and dismiss any opposing perspective. He criticizes the echo chamber effect created by social media and news outlets, where challenging opinions are instantly dismissed. A.K. admits to forming opinions about people he knows nothing about, illustrating the influence of preconceived notions and limited exposure to different cultures or regions.
The song shifts to express exhaustion with the mainstream media's representation of individual thoughts and viewpoints. A.K. rejects the notion that his views are accurately represented by networks like CNN or Fox News. He emphasizes the value of personal interactions and authentic conversations, claiming that real understanding and connection starts when we take a break from politics and engage in sincere discourse. A.K. acknowledges his own shortcomings and the difficulty of letting go of deeply ingrained beliefs. Despite the acknowledgment that agreement may be unlikely, the song encourages open-mindedness and recognizes that unity can be achieved when people come together beyond the constraints of political divisions.
