In an interview with www.spinner.com, Sudol shared how she came up with the name "(I) had a bunch of books open on a table, "a fine frenzy" jumped off a page of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' [Shakespeare] and it was just right, though every now and then I wonder if it's a bit ... flowery."
Sudol developed the sound of A Fine Frenzy - hypnotic piano arrangements under classic American melody fused into irresistible, atmospheric songs with the power to reach around the world.
The second album, Bomb in a Birdcage, was released on 8 September 2009. A third album, Pines, was released in 2012.

What I Wouldn
A Fine Frenzy Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Warm and brown beneath the sun
Never learned to climb a tree but I would try
Just to show you what I'd done
Oh what I wouldn't do
If I had you, babe, I had you
Oh what I wouldn't do
If I were old, my dearest, you would be older
But I would crawl upon your lap
Wrap a blanket 'round our frail little shoulders
And I'd die happily like that
Oh what I wouldn't do
If I had you, babe, I had you
Oh what I wouldn't do
If I had you, babe, if I had you
So lace your hands 'round the small of my back and I will kiss you like a king
I will be your bride, I'll keep you warm at night
I will sing, I will sing
It was now and we were both in the same place
Didn't know how to say the words
With my heart ticking like a bomb in a birdcage
I left before someone got hurt
Oh what I wouldn't do
If I had you, babe, I had you
Oh what I wouldn't do
If I had you, babe, if I had you
The lyrics of "What I Wouldn't Do" by A Fine Frenzy convey a sense of longing and devotion. If the singer had the person she desires, she would go to great lengths to make them happy. She would make them a mud pie if they were children and try to climb a tree even if she hadn't learned how. If they were older, she would seek comfort on their lap and die happy like that. The singer yearns for the person's touch and kisses them like a king, vowing to be their bride and keep them warm at night. However, despite the passion and desire, the singer leaves without saying a word, fearing someone might get hurt.
The song is an expression of unrequited love and the lengths people will go to when they are desperate for someone's affection. The desire to please the other person and make them happy is so strong that the singer would go to great lengths despite the challenges or her own limitations.

My mum first played me this song and it's so lovely that it made me cry! I want to include it in my wedding somehow - maybe a first dance? I can imagine people clapping in time and us twirling around having fun. :)
