Their current lineup consists of Hoffmann, vocalist Mark Tornillo, guitarists Uwe Lulis and Philip Shouse, drummer Christopher Williams and bassist Martin Motnik. Before arriving at their current lineup, Accept has undergone numerous lineup changes, being Hoffmann the last remaining original member since its inception, and he is the only band member to appear on each album.
Accept played an important role in the development of speed and thrash metal, and they were part of the German heavy metal scene, which emerged in the early to mid-1980s. They have also been cited as an influence or inspiration by a number of acts, including Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Pantera, Testament, Anthrax, Guns N' Roses, Mötley Crüe, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Overkill, Exodus, and Annihilator, as well as fellow Germans such as Helloween, Blind Guardian, Doro, Sodom, Rage, and Grave Digger. Accept achieved its first commercial success with their fifth studio album Balls to the Wall (1983), which is the band's only album to be certified gold in the United States and Canada, and spawned their well-known hit "Balls to the Wall".
Accept have broken up and reformed multiple times. They first split up in 1989, several months after the release of Eat the Heat (which was their only album with Dirkschneider's initial replacement David Reece), but reformed in 1992 and released three more albums before disbanding again in 1997. After briefly reuniting in 2005, Accept announced their third reunion in 2009, with former T.T. Quick frontman Mark Tornillo replacing Dirkschneider (who declined to participate), and the band has recorded five albums with him: Blood of the Nations (2010), Stalingrad (2012), Blind Rage (2014), The Rise of Chaos (2017) and Too Mean to Die (2021); each of those albums renewed Accept's popularity in Germany and entered the top ten charts there.

Accept Lyrics

Never know where you are headed for
What to do nothing new
Nothing seems to be worth living for
'Cause sometimes you fall off the track
But that don't mean it's wasted
Come on get your timing right
Don't kiss the D-Train
Kiss the D-Train
Don't kiss the D-Train
Kiss the D-Train
You think you got no place to run
But just ahead there is an open floor, yeah
'Cause once you give it up for good
But all you know is you have locked the door
Why don't you just take a break
That's all it's sometimes takin'
Try to get your timin' right
And make you stop from running wild
Don't kiss the D-Train
Kiss the D-Train
Don't kiss the D-Train
Kiss the D-Train
Now you've jumped off from the ride
There's so much left that's worth it living for
'Cause you can't run, no, you can't hide
And you won't see while walkin' with closed eyes, no
Come on it ain't paradise
But that don't mean it's wasted
You've gotta get your timin' right
And check out what's a comin'
Don't kiss the D-Train
Kiss the D-Train
Don't kiss the D-Train
Kiss the D-Train
Don't be messin' with the D-Train
Kiss the D-Train
Stay away from the D-Train
Kiss the D-Train
Knock that shit off
The lyrics of Accept's song D-Train talk about the uncertainties and challenges that come with life. The first verse talks about how life can sometimes be strange, and we may not know where we are headed. It talks about feeling lost and like nothing is worth living for. However, it also reminds us that just because we have fallen off track doesn't mean that our journey is wasted. We need to get our timing right and see what's coming ahead.
The chorus talks about not "kissing the D-Train." The D-Train can be interpreted as any self-destructive behavior or bad habit that we may have. It talks about not getting on this train and instead focusing on the good things in life. The second verse encourages us to keep going and not give up. It talks about taking a break when we need to and getting our timing right to stop from running wild. The bridge talks about how life may not be perfect, but that doesn't mean it's wasted. We need to keep moving forward and see what's coming ahead.
Overall, the lyrics of D-Train are motivational and encouraging. It reminds us that life may be challenging, but we should not give up and instead focus on the good things ahead.
