Action Action is an indie rock band from Long Island, New York who combine … Read Full Bio ↴Action Action is an indie rock band from Long Island, New York who combine a new wave aesthetic with a swirling guitar-driven sound reminiscent of The Bolshoi, Bauhaus, and other proto-goth bands prominent in the late 1970s and early '80s.

The lineup consists of:

Mark Thomas Kluepfel (singer/songwriting)
Adam Manning (guitar)
Clarke Foley (bass)
Dan Leo (drums)

In the studio while recording their debut, Don't Cut Your Fabric to This Year's Fashion, they employed synths to flesh out their sound and help set themselves apart from the typical rock-based indie act who normally do not experiment beyond basic rock instrumentation.

The band has finished recording their second album, An Army of Shapes Between Wars, which was released on January 24, 2006. The album makes more use of synthesizers and string sections.

Man, I feel so bad for Action! I feel like Light is the better player, but Action played absolutely out of his mind and made this series super close. As a Terran player myself, always like to see the Terrans win.

For anyone else confused about in game 4 (1:33:47) why Action didn't send the mutas to kill Light's base after the ling bust, I could be wrong but I think it has to do with the bunker at 6:11. You can see that Action is mineral starved with 400 gas banked up, and the bunker interrupts mining for almost 1 minute = 400 minerals (6 drones), so maybe Action thought 7 mutas wouldn't do enough damage?

Game 2 was bizarre. Artosis actually called it much better than Scan and Nyoken. Those two thought that action was still in a position to come back, but I think Artosis has played against so much trash on the ladder that he knows better

@Justin Tung ya if they surrounded the marines out on the map, action could have won. But even after light got home and got his bunker up, scan and Nyoken weren’t expecting action to tap out. Action only had one hatch and maybe like 10 drones mining, there’s just no way to get damage done against marine medic with such little production

Very happy to see this, was getting incredibly inpatient for this cast, I cannot believe how unsatisfying the first match was with Rush and Soma. This series was fantastic, I really like Light but there are plenty of Terran players I like, from Zerg there aren't many but Action is one of them, I feel bad he lost after putting up really good games, maybe some bad decisions but say that 4 pool or the almost heroic fight back worked out and he had game 5 to work with he would have a chance. I like these longer series, I was surprised when Action handled the first game so excellently against Light, I figured that was the situation where Light was favored and he seemed to be up so much. The problem is that Light is so solid that winning 3 games in 5 shots against him is extremely challenging. I also think that it might be the case that Light pushing Action hard in the first game after it was over was the impetus for a 4 pool from Action so that might have worked out for him. It seemed closer than it was, Action's heroics were almost enough to steal a win from a loss in a couple games but they were super all in so when they failed Light's advantage was insurmountable.

Seems like the very long defense from light in game one worked as a psy op. Action was exhausted after that, and tried to end all the other games way too fast.

In the first game, Light had map control between minute 10 and minute 20. I don't get why he didn't go for the nukes to break the third. During this time, Action had nothing to get rid of a ghost protected by a bunch of marines and medics.

59:10 Action could have burrowed under the CC right here, had 9 lings (more if he brought the reinforcements) to spread around main and natural. Later could get 1 more to burrow at potential 3rd bases if Light tried to float to there. Could have won. Maybe he wasn't thinking Light might lift his CC but he should have expected that once 9 lings were banging on it.

@aqwe asdas He has no scans or academy or ebay. Best would be to land 3x distance wherever you can and start ebay. The lings could have potentially killed the two depots also, or at least one of them, leaving Light with just a CC, rax and refinery. I don't know if Action would be ahead after the turrets came down and CC moved to normal spot. But he could start lair now or take his natural very soon, and then 8 more drones would put him equal on workers. It'd be close.

The 2nd game can gone differently after that failed opening and some questionable decisions. Is it possible to normalize the game if you hole up and create a 2nd hatchery in the main instead? While economy is a big issue, I think 175 total minerals for a Sunken Colony seems pretty expensive.

zerg can constantly my drones. even if they need to produce army. its called actual macro. there is no mechanic that forces a zerg to only make one unit or another. i really am tired of zergs getting the benefit of choosing and you call it being forced.

This isn’t fastest map ever with 9 hatches unlimited larva, they have to cut corners and survive on the bare minimum to nail their builds. Of course the larva is a limitation in the early game.

I enjoy the scrappy games too; a failed 4 pool that then somehow goes into a longer game is great to watch. I think Artosis just prefers standard macro games because that's all he wants to play when he Ladders, and he appreciates the ability of pros to super optimise those builds.

Crazy fun games. Even as a Terran player I feel bad for action, the matchup is historically favored towards T and often Zerg makes 1 mistake and it's GG. He made it a series and I have mad respect for him continuing to innovate Zerg

Okay, that makes some sense but... given BW cult following and compared to other videos and percentages over time get reduced, wouldn't it just be better if viewers didn't know the results before watching? And IMO that would secure more people to watch through to the end or at least to the 70-80% whatever.

I don't know how longer videos are bad for the youtube algorithm, i mean, they might to an extent, but i don't see how an 1.5h video makes a difference if it's 2hs? It's already a long ass video and also, they have days where the vod is 4.5 hours long anyways!
