Green attended Emerson College briefly in 1998 before leaving to concentrate on his music, going on to co-found the anti folk group The Moldy Peaches with Kimya Dawson. In 2004 The Moldy Peaches went on hiatus and both Green and Dawson embarked on solo careers.
Green released several albums on Rough Trade Records. Among his better known songs are "Jessica" (about singer Jessica Simpson), "Novotel", "Friends of Mine", "Dance with Me", "Carolina" and "Emily", and, in Britain, his cover of The Libertines track "What a Waster".
Prior to Jacket Full of Danger in 2006, all of Green's albums had been released on the 22nd of the month. His latest album was released on March 18, 2008 and is titled Sixes & Sevens. Titles include "Morning After Midnight", "Twee Twee Dee", and "Drowning Head First", the latter a duet between Green and his girlfriend.
In January 2008, The Moldy Peaches began having a resurgence in popularity, due to their music being included in the hit indie film Juno.
Computer Show

To the computer show
I didn't have a passport
So they turned me into snow
They turned me into snow
Follow you follow you follow you follow you
Into every store
Tell me what I'm for
Tell me what I'm for
Oh I stumbled in all wide-eyed
To the computer show
I didn't have my passport
So they turned me into snow
They turned me into snow
Follow you follow you follow you follow you
Into every store
Follow you follow you follow you follow you
Tell me what I'm for
You caught my eye against your eye
Deep inside the crowd
You hung me from the hooks inside
My asshole and my mouth
My asshole and my mouth
Follow you follow you follow you follow you
Into every store
Follow you follow you follow you follow you
Tell me what I'm for
Tell me what I'm for
I stumbled in all wide-eyed
To the computer show
I didn't have my passport
So they turned me into snow
They turned me into snow
They turned me into snow
Take me home with you
Take me home with you
You needed to read the computer magazine
To know that you liked computers
To go to the computer show
To see me standing there
To take me home with you
I need to go home with you
I can't go home without going home with you
The opening lines of Adam Green's "Computer Show" describe the singer's first experience at a computer show, which he seems to have stumbled into with a wide-eyed sense of wonder. The inability to produce a passport leads to a bizarre turn of events where he is turned into snow. The song yields a sense of confusion and disorientation, carrying a tone of criticism and an unspoken, menacing laughter. Going through each store at the computer show, the singer poses a series of questions about purpose and asks a mysterious figure for answers. In the second verse, there are violent and abusive undertones alluding to his experience at the event; a figure has "hung him from the hooks inside his asshole and mouth." The chorus repeats itself throughout the lyrics, which show the singer's desperation and desire for connection and a sense of belonging.
