still
Alanis Morissette Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Are you still mad I kicked you out of bed?
Are you still mad I gave you ultimatums?
Are you still mad I compared you
To all my forty year old male friends?
Are you still mad I shared our problems with everybody?

Are you still mad I had an emotional affair?
Are you still mad I tried to mold you into
Who I wanted you to be?
Are you still mad I didn't trust your intentions?
Of course you are
Of course you are
Of course you are
Of course you are

Are you still mad that I flirted wildly?
Are you still mad I had a tendency to mother you?
Are you still mad that I had one foot out the door?
Are you still mad that we slept together even after
We had ended it?
Of course you are
Of course you are
Of course you are
Of course you are

Are you still mad I wore the pants most of the time?
Are you still mad that I seemed to focus
Only on your potential?
Are you still mad that I threw in the towel?
Are you still mad that I gave up long before you did?
Of course you are
Of course you are

Of course you are
Of course you are

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Alanis Morissette's song "Still" describe the aftermath of a failed relationship, specifically highlighting the ways in which the singer's behavior contributed to its demise. The repetition of the question "Are you still mad?" highlights the ongoing resentment and anger between the two people, even though the relationship has ended. The lyrics focus on specific actions taken by the singer, including kicking the other person out of bed, giving ultimatums, comparing them to other men, and sharing their problems with others. The negative actions continue to pile up, with emotional affairs and attempts to mold the other person into someone they're not. The singer also questions whether the other person is still mad about actions they've since taken accountability for, such as continuing to sleep together even after breaking up, and giving up on the relationship before the other person did. Overall, the lyrics suggest a sense of regret and frustration on the part of the singer as they come to terms with the impact of their actions on the relationship.

@theworstgamervr

Under rated as hell was funny and made a lot of good points of religion like we shouldn't be fighting about it with eachother we should focus on the common ground, of loving and serving our lord and savior God. That goes with politics as well we get so torn up about the difference of idea's of each party we need to focus on the common ground like I love America you love America lets get a beer and celebrate this great country we've created its flaws and all. Yeah we got problems but no country comes close to the amazing level of society and technology we have created. Im just saying we need to agree on more shit not fight to the death about every little fuckin choice there is to make

@jamesrudland5239

@THEWORSTGAMERVR I believe that is what Kevin Smith was aiming for when he wrote and directed Dogma, Alanis as God was a stroke of genius and she wrote the most beautiful lyrical narrative to say thanks
