Since coming together as a band, they cut their teeth playing numerous California dates with groups like Entrance Band, Tyde, Tijuana Panthers, and the Growlers, and have garnered the approval of original UK Psych founding-father Patrick Campbell-Lyons (Nirvana). In the Los Angeles musical community, they gained a reputation as a laid-back, grooving band with strong ties to the authentically LA-centric sounds of bands like the Byrds, Love, and early Captain Beefheart.
The group released their third album, Calico Review, on September 9, 2016. On November 3, 2017, the band released the EP Covers #1. The EP consists of four covers of songs by George Harrison, Television, Kathy Heideman, and Further. In October 2019, the band released the album LAHS.
Nothing To Hide
Allah-Las Lyrics

How to draw the line
We've all got something to hide
Stairs surprise
Glazes of any size
We've all got something to hide
We've all got something to hide
We're gonna see what comes after
We're gonna see what comes after
Wait wait, harder not faster
Harder not faster
We might do time
Set us straight like
We've all got something to hide
Clear the drive
Morsels not in sight
We've all got something to hide
Well wait, wait
We're gonna see what comes after
We're gonna see what comes after
Wait wait, harder not faster
Harder not faster
Well wait, wait
We're gonna see what comes after
We're gonna see what comes after
Wait wait, harder not faster
Harder not faster
We all decide
We all like to draw the line
We've all got something to hide
We've all got something to hide
The lyrics for Allah-Las's song "Nothing to Hide" touch on the idea that everyone has secrets or things they keep hidden, and that it's up to individuals to decide what they reveal and what they keep to themselves. The first verse sets the tone, emphasizing that we all have "something to hide" and that even seemingly innocuous things like stairs or glazes can hold secrets. The chorus urges listeners to wait and take things slower, perhaps to avoid revealing too much too quickly. The second verse suggests that even consequences like "doing time" can't force us to reveal our secrets, and that we'll always have something hidden away. Finally, the last verse restates the chorus's main idea-- that we all make our own decisions when it comes to disclosure-- before ending with the reminder that we all have secrets.
One interpretation of the lyrics is that they're emphasizing the importance of privacy and the right to keep certain things concealed. That said, the song is open to multiple interpretations and could be about anything from personal secrets to political scandals. The key idea here is that everyone has something they wish to keep hidden away, and how things are disclosed is up to each individual.
