A lot has been happened since their debut album "Northern Winds" (Blanco y Negro) in 2001. Two more albums are on the market "All you left us"(Blanco y Negro 2005) and "Positivity" (Blanco y Negro 2008), and a fourth one now is beeing prepared. Their music has been included in more than 30 internacional compilation CD's such as "Café del Mar", "Hed Kandi-Winterchill" or "Chillout Sessions" among others. The music of Almadrava can be found all over the globe.
The head of the group forms Patricia Leidig. Patricia was born in Valencia (Spain) but when she was 3, her parents moved back to Germany. She started making music when she was 3 and half years old. At the age of 6 she entered the JOC-development-program of Yamaha for young talents in Germany, and within 10 years of seminars and intensive music-courses she got to participate in various Yamaha JOC-Concerts, especially in Japan in the year 1987 at the age of 11.
Patricia recorded her first single "When We Fly Away" when she was 19, under the label of Mons Records. During the filming of the video clip, she met Pedro Toro, a video director, and together they got to work in several recording projects, especially soundtracks for television and documentaries, developing a special talent in the creation of ambiances.
Later on, a proposal of César Lorés, from Blanco y Negro Music (Spain), brings them to write several ambient songs, that finally will become Almadrava's first album (Blanco y Negro 2002). Combining classic instruments with synthesizers, tradition with modernity, the beautiful with the strange, Almadrava brings the listener to a "Chill out" world, where every single song is important...
Almadrava has also been doing several Chill out remixes for different artists like Transfer, Jask, Information Society, Tukan, M-Black, Sunblind and De-Nuit.
Patricia and Pedro are also the authors of the first musical of the air, "Dreamings". The musical was presented in November 2002, in the circuit of Motegi - Japan, with an attendance of over 55.000 spectators.
Waves
Almadrava Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Down at the beach there is not anyone.
The water so blue,
and the way I feel too,
and nothing matters anymore but you.
They slightly dissapear, the stars.
Venus not there and neither Mars.
A nice way to say it, so smooth!
Waves on the sea, they're talking to me,
they're telling me about how it feels to be free, so free...
Waves on the sea, they're talking to me,
they're telling me about how it feels to be free, so free...
And the wind blows away the sand, (like an hourglass)
falling from my hand.
Another minute lost in peace,
I close my eyes and I can feel your breeze
Beeing on this beach, I am out of reach,
I cannot listen to his lies, when I'm here.
There is a couple on the run.
A solitary man, looks like he's having fun.
I don't have to fear, when freedom is near,
again you give me all the strenghs I need to live.
Waves on the sea...
The lyrics of Almadrava's song "Waves" describe a peaceful and romantic scene at the beach, where the singer finds solace in the beauty of the natural elements around them. The opening lines of the song, "Behind the moon you'll find the sun. Down at the beach there is not anyone", suggest a feeling of isolation and freedom, as if the beach is a safe haven from the complexities of the world. The blue water and the way the singer feels are described in parallel, emphasizing the connection between the external environment and the internal emotional state. The lyrics then shift to the stars in the sky, which are described as disappearing, perhaps further emphasizing the feeling of isolation or separation from the rest of the world.
The singer then asks for the truth, and is answered with a hushed response, which is described as smooth. This could suggest that the truth being discussed is a delicate topic, and the response is carefully worded. The lyrics then return to the waves on the sea, which seem to be communicating with the singer, telling them about what it feels like to be free. This idea of nature having a voice and being able to communicate with humans is a recurring theme throughout the song.
The wind blowing away the sand, like an hourglass, could be interpreted as a metaphor for the passage of time, and the idea of the beach being a place where time stands still, or at least moves differently than in the rest of the world. The final stanza describes a couple on the run and a solitary man, perhaps further emphasizing the theme of isolation and escape, and the idea that the beach is a place where people come to find freedom and be themselves. The song ends with a repetition of the chorus, emphasizing the idea that the waves on the sea are a source of wisdom and guidance for the singer.
