And kissed me goodbye
I had to smile through my tears
At those tears in your eyes
I was just leaving you for a week
But you held me so tight
When you called me long distance
You said the house felt so empty
And you apologized for being weak
But can't you see
That's when you're a man to me
When you show your tender side
When your heart is open wide
When you put your world on hold
And stop to listen to my needs
When you really let it show
That I'm a part of all your dreams
That's when you're a man to me
The strength of your arms
Thrills me so much
But you make the earth move
With the softness of your touch
And the love that you give me
Will always be enough
You've got nothing to prove
You've got nothing to hide
And you impress me the most
When you don't even try
When your feelings shine through
Oh, that's when you're a man to me
When you show your tender side
When your heart is open wide
When you put your world on hold
And stop to listen to my needs
When you really let it show
That I'm a part of all your dreams
Oh, that's when you're a man to me
When you put your world on hold
And stop to listen to my needs
When you really let it show
That I'm a part of all your dreams
Oh, that's when you're a man to me
The lyrics of Amanda Wilkinson's song "Man To Me" portrays a beautiful, poignant love between two individuals who are deeply connected at the emotional level. It talks about how a man can be all macho and strong, but it is the moments when he showcases his vulnerability, his tender side, and puts his world on hold to listen to his partner's needs that truly count, and make him a real man in her eyes. The song begins with the singer leaving her partner for a week and how he holds her so tight, making her feel loved and cherished. It talks about how her partner calls her long-distance to check whether she's okay, how he feels empty without her by his side, and how he apologizes for being weak.
The song's essence is all about how true love lies in being there for each other, listening to each other's needs, and showcasing vulnerability in front of one another. It's all about discovering each other's deepest truths and secrets, not hiding anything, and being there for each other in good and bad times. The song also portrays that love isn't just about physical strength and prowess, but also emotional depth and integrity, which are qualities that make a man truly attractive in a woman's eyes. It beautifully represents how genuine love is not based on mere physical connections but emotional ones, making it an emotional and touching love ballad.
