Is this what they write those songs about, maybe so
Your whispers echo inside my heart, your kiss is still on my lips
A certain something is telling me, this is it
There's something in the fire, you start each time you hold me
Something in the way I melt
I know just one thing, it's nothing like I've ever felt
I don't know where this is gonna go, I don't know where it might end
We've got from now till forever, baby, until then
I'll surrender myself to you, I'll let go and let love
Take my hand and change my world and fill me up
There's something in the fire, you start each time you hold me
Something in the way I melt
I know just one thing, it's nothing like I've ever felt
Boy, this ain't just something, this is really something else
I just know one thing, it's nothing like I've ever felt
Boy, this ain't just something, this is really something
Boy, this ain't just something, this is really something else
In Amanda Wilkinson's song "Something Else", she sings about the aftermath of a romantic encounter and the intense emotions it evokes. The opening lines of "The morning after the night before, I'm still feeling the glow" paint a picture of the singer waking up the morning after the encounter and still feeling the intensity of the experience. She wonders if this is what the songwriters write about and concludes that it might be so.
The chorus of the song talks about the overwhelming feeling the singer experiences whenever she is with her lover. She sings, "There's something in the fire, you start each time you hold me, Something in the way I melt, I know just one thing, it's nothing like I've ever felt, Boy, this ain't just something, this is really something else". The fire and melting are metaphors for the intense passion she feels when she is with her partner, something that is beyond anything she has ever experienced before.
The song also speaks to the uncertainty of love and relationships, evidenced in lines like "I don't know where this is gonna go, I don't know where it might end". However, the singer chooses to surrender herself to the love that she feels, willing to go along for the ride as long as it lasts. There is a sense of hope in the way she sings "Take my hand and change my world and fill me up", believing that this love has the power to transform her life.
Overall, "Something Else" is a song about the intensity of love and the way it can transform one's world. It speaks to the power of chemistry and connection between two people and the way they can be swept away by their emotions.
