The sun can't seem to chase these clouds away
I miss the way it was, I can't believe it's changed
Is there nothing I can do, to make you stay?
Please stay
If you will, will hold on tight
Face to face, we'll win this fight
Till I master the art of letting go
How long does it take, how long will it last
Till it feels like my whole world's not torn in half?
If you remember what we were, remember what we had
It won't be that hard to get it back, come back
If you will, will hold on tight
Face to face, we'll win this fight
If you leave, baby, leave real slow
Till I master the art of letting go
If you leave, baby, leave real slow
Till I master the art of letting go
Of letting go
In Amanda Wilkinson's song "The Art Of Letting Go," she sings about the difficulty and pain of moving on from a relationship that has ended. The lyrics express her sorrow and shock at how drastically her life has changed, and how much she misses the person who has left her. The line "I miss the way it was, I can't believe it's changed" shows how she longs for things to return to the way they were before the breakup.
However, despite her reluctance to let go, she knows she must learn to do so. In the chorus, she sings about holding on tight and fighting to keep the relationship alive, but also acknowledges that sometimes it's necessary to let go. She pleads with the person to leave slowly, so that she can gradually learn to let go of them. The title of the song, "The Art Of Letting Go," highlights the difficulty in learning this skill.
The final verse shows that Amanda still holds onto hope that things could be salvaged, but also recognizes that it may not be possible. She sings about remembering what they had and how it could be possible to get it back, but ultimately acknowledges that it won't be easy. The song is a bittersweet reminder of the challenges of moving on from a failed relationship.
