My mom died today. As far as I can remember, and I’m 52 yo, she always requested to have this song played at her funeral. Tonight I weep and feel broken. I lost my best friend and confidante, my mommy. This pain is indescribable, but yet I am comforted that today she has seen the face of Jesus. Rest mom. I look forward to an eternal reunion. This was one of only request my Mom had for her celebration of life. My uncle took care of the ceremony and I had no say. This part was left out. As I cried her best friends friend stood up and began singing. She was a choir singer we all joined in and chills drained me. This has always been a powerful song for my family. My grandma sang it so beautiful when I was young. I'm not a religious person but I am still impacted by the meaning of this song. Especially through the eyes of loss.

I just have my own beliefs and I am spiritual more to speak. I believe what a person believes in and makes their heart whole is beautiful. I honor them for their beliefs and I always listen to what they share with me. I respect their choices as they should respect mine. I just wish I would have played it for her before when she was in the hospital. When you all sang this in Peoria, Illinois last Saturday I cried. My dear friend's daughter died 3 weeks ago by an accidental death. She was 12. This song just reminds me that God set her free! Those chains are gone! Thank you for helping me to remember we have hope in Jesus! God bless you all!
