A member of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra during her youth, Winehouse signed to Simon Fuller's 19 Management in 2002 and soon recorded a number of songs before signing a publishing deal with EMI. She also formed a working relationship with producer Salaam Remi through these record publishers. Winehouse's debut album, Frank, was released in 2003. Many of the album's songs were influenced by jazz and, apart from two covers, were co-written by Winehouse. Frank was a critical success in the UK and was nominated for the Mercury Prize. The song "Stronger Than Me" won her the Ivor Novello Award for Best Contemporary Song from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors.
Winehouse released her follow-up album, Back to Black, in 2006, which went on to become an international success and one of the best-selling albums in UK history. At the 2007 Brit Awards it was nominated for British Album of the Year, and she received the award for British Female Solo Artist. The song "Rehab" won her a second Ivor Novello Award. At the 50th Grammy Awards in 2008, she won five awards, tying the then record for the most wins by a female artist in a single night and becoming the first British woman to win five Grammys, including three of the General Field "Big Four" Grammy Awards: Best New Artist, Record of the Year and Song of the Year (for "Rehab"), as well as Best Pop Vocal Album.
Winehouse was plagued by drug and alcohol addiction. She died of alcohol poisoning on 23 July 2011, at the age of 27. After her death, Back to Black temporarily became the UK's best-selling album of the 21st century. VH1 ranked Winehouse 26th on their list of the 100 Greatest Women in Music.

And you dressed like a star,
Rockin' your F me pumps.
And the men notice you,
With your Gucci bag crew,
Can't tell who he's lookin' to.
Everyone knows your name,
And that's you whole claim to fame.
Never miss a night,
Cause your dream in life,
Is to be a footballers wife.
You don't like players,
That's what you say-a,
But you really wouldn't mind a millionaire.
You don't like ballers,
They don't do nothing for ya,
But you'd love a rich man six foot two or taller.
You're more than a fan,
Lookin' for a man,
But you end up with one-nights-stands.
He could be your whole life,
If you got past one night,
But that part never goes right.
In the morning you're vexed,
He's onto the next,
And you didn't even get no taste.
Don't be too upset,
If they call you a skank,
Cause like the news everyday you get pressed.
You don't like players,
That's what you say-a,
But you really wouldn't mind a millionaire.
Or them big ballers,
Don't do nothing for ya.
But you'd love a rich man six foot two or taller,
You can't sit down right,
Cause you jeans are too tight,
And your lucky its ladies night.
With your big empty purse,
Every week it gets worse,
At least your breasts cost more than hers.
So you did Miami,
Cause you got there for free,
But somehow you missed the plane.
You did too much E,
Met somebody,
And spent the night getting caned.
Without girls like you,
There'd be no fun,
We'd go to the club and not see anyone.
Without girls like you,
There's no nightlife,
All those men just go home to their wives.
Don't be mad at me,
Cause you're pushing thirty,
And your old tricks no longer work.
You should have known from the job,
That you always get dumped,
So dust off your fuck me pumps
Amy Winehouse’s song “F*** me pumps” talks about the stereotypical woman who goes to clubs and bars looking for rich men, hoping to become a footballer’s wife. The phrase “F*** me pumps” is in reference to the type of shoes women wear when they go out, high heels that are worn with the intention of attracting attention from men. The lyrics describe how these women all look the same, with their designer bags and tight clothing, and how they all have the same goal of finding a wealthy man to take care of them.
The song points out that while these women say they don’t like “players” (men who sleep around), they wouldn’t mind a millionaire. They want a man who is tall and rich, even if they don’t do anything for them. The lyrics also suggest that these women often end up having one-night stands with men they meet at the club, despite hoping for something more meaningful.
The song also references the downside of this lifestyle, as the women in question are often criticized and called “skanks,” and they’re constantly trying to keep up with their peers by buying expensive clothes and accessories. Despite this, they keep going out night after night in search of their dream man.
Overall, “F*** me pumps” is a commentary on the shallow culture of clubbing and hookup culture, and how it can lead some people to prioritize money and status over genuine connection and love.
