A member of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra during her youth, Winehouse signed to Simon Fuller's 19 Management in 2002 and soon recorded a number of songs before signing a publishing deal with EMI. She also formed a working relationship with producer Salaam Remi through these record publishers. Winehouse's debut album, Frank, was released in 2003. Many of the album's songs were influenced by jazz and, apart from two covers, were co-written by Winehouse. Frank was a critical success in the UK and was nominated for the Mercury Prize. The song "Stronger Than Me" won her the Ivor Novello Award for Best Contemporary Song from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors.
Winehouse released her follow-up album, Back to Black, in 2006, which went on to become an international success and one of the best-selling albums in UK history. At the 2007 Brit Awards it was nominated for British Album of the Year, and she received the award for British Female Solo Artist. The song "Rehab" won her a second Ivor Novello Award. At the 50th Grammy Awards in 2008, she won five awards, tying the then record for the most wins by a female artist in a single night and becoming the first British woman to win five Grammys, including three of the General Field "Big Four" Grammy Awards: Best New Artist, Record of the Year and Song of the Year (for "Rehab"), as well as Best Pop Vocal Album.
Winehouse was plagued by drug and alcohol addiction. She died of alcohol poisoning on 23 July 2011, at the age of 27. After her death, Back to Black temporarily became the UK's best-selling album of the 21st century. VH1 ranked Winehouse 26th on their list of the 100 Greatest Women in Music.

Distract me, stops me doing work I hate
And just to show him how it feels
I walk past his desk in heels
One leg resting on the chair
From the side he pulls my hair
Amy, Amy, Amy
Amy, Amy, Amy
He's just too hard to ignore
Masculine, you spin a spell
I think you'd wear me well
Amy, Amy, Amy
Where's my moral parallel?
It takes me half an hour to write a verse
He makes me imagine it from bad to worse
My weakness for the other sex
Every time his shoulders flex
The way the shirt hangs off his back
My train of thought spins right off track
Amy, Amy, Amy
Although I've been here before
Amy, Amy, Amy
He's just too hard to ignore
Masculine, he spins a spell, yeah
I think he'd wear me well
Amy, Amy, Amy
So, where's my moral parallel?
His own style, right down to his Diesel jeans
Immobile, I can't think by any means
Underwear peeks out the top
I'll let you know when you should stop
From the picture my mind drew
I know I'd look good on you
Amy, Amy, Amy
Although I've been here before
Amy, Amy, Amy
You're too hard to ignore
Masculine, you spin a spell
I think you'd wear me well
Amy, Amy, Amy
So, where's my moral parallel?
Creative energy abused
All my lyrics go unused
And when I clock black hair, blue eyes
I drift off, I fantasize, yeah-yeah
Yeah-yeah, ay-bay, ah, yeah-yeah-yeah
Amy, Amy, Amy
Although I've been here before
Amy, Amy, Amy
He's just too hard to ignore
Masculine, he spins a spell
I think he'd wear me well
Amy, Amy, Amy
So, where's my moral parallel?
Amy, Amy, Amy
Although I've been here before
Amy, Amy, Amy (yeah)
He's just too hard to ignore
Masculine, he spins a spell
I think he'd wear me well, yeah
Amy, Amy, Amy (oh, yeah)
So, where's my moral parallel?
The song "Amy Amy Amy" by Amy Winehouse, Matt Rowe, and Stefan Skarbek is about being attracted to someone to the point where it is distracting and causes a loss of concentration. The lyrics suggest that the person being sung to is so mesmerizing that they can't focus on anything other than them. It is clear that this person has a strong physical presence, from pulling hair to flexing muscles, and that this physicality is a major factor in the attraction.
The lyrics also suggest that the person being sung to may be unattainable, as the singer laments that "all my lyrics go unused" and "wheres my morel parallel". This could indicate that the singer is frustrated by their inability to connect with the person who is the subject of their attraction. However, despite this frustration, the singer seems unable to resist the pull of this person's spell, referring to them as "just too hard to ignore."
Overall, the song paints a picture of a strong physical attraction that is overpowering and distracting, causing frustration and creative blocks for the artist. It is a relatable experience that many people might have gone through, making the song resonate with listeners.
