Japanese Boy
Aneka Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

He said that he loved me, never would go
Oh oh, oh oh
Now I find I'm sitting here on my own
Oh oh, oh oh

Was it something I've said or done
That made him pack his bags up and run
Could it be another he's found
It's breaking up the happy home

Mister can you tell me where my love has gone
He's a Japanese boy
I woke up one morning and my love was gone
Oh, my Japanese boy
Ooh, I miss my Japanese boy

People ask about him every day
Oh oh, oh oh
Don't know what to tell them, what can I say
Oh oh, oh oh

If only he would write me or call
A word of explanation, that's all
It would stop me climbing the wall
It's breaking up the happy home

Mister can you tell me where my love has gone
He's a Japanese boy
I woke up one morning and my love was gone
Oh, my Japanese boy
Ooh, I miss my Japanese boy

Was it something I've said or done
That made him pack his bags up and run
Could it be another he's found
It's breaking up the happy home

Mister can you tell me where my love has gone
He's a Japanese boy
I woke up one morning and my love was gone
Oh, my Japanese boy
Ooh, I miss my Japanese boy

Mister can you tell me where my love has gone
He's a Japanese boy
I woke up one morning and my love was gone

Oh, my Japanese boy
Ooh, I miss my Japanese boy

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Aneka's song Japanese Boy are a lament from a woman whose lover has left her. The song suggests that the singer's lover may have been unfaithful, as she wonders if he has found another woman. The chorus emphasizes her desire to know where he has gone, calling out to a "Mister" for answers. The repetition of the phrase "He's a Japanese boy" suggests that cultural differences may have played a role in their relationship and its eventual demise.

The lyrics also address the singer's confusion and frustration over her lover's departure. She wonders if she did something wrong or if she can do anything to bring him back. The repetition of the line "Was it something I've said or done" highlights her feelings of guilt and regret. Throughout the song, the singer's longing for her lost love is palpable, with the lines "It's breaking up the happy home" and "Ooh, I miss my Japanese boy" underscoring her pain.

@@komix1873 Gta 4 no doubt has the music radios of the entire franchise. GTA 5 dropped the ball and 6 will be worse. But that's because of the modern age music...

@fuckbillieellishohyeahyeah1972

@@xzxxx-km4vyGTA 6 might have a whole radio station just full of 80s music to pay tribute to Vice City. I hope 😪

@nedson6503

I'm actually just looking at what was removed from the "definitive" edition.

@Atlan83

What a banger. Heard it the first time when I played GTA Vice City while I was probably twelve or something. Now, 23 years later and being a dad, it still rocks.
