Here are listed 19 of those bands.
1. After Cherry People disbanded, Punky Meadows and Mickie Jones formed Daddy Warbux, later BUX, which released one album. Angel formed after the two met Gregg Giuffria and then Barry Brandt and Frank Dimino, choosing the name "Angel".
Angel were discovered by Kiss bassist Gene Simmons who secured them a deal with Casablanca Records in 1975. The original members of the band were Barry Brandt on drums, "Punky" Meadows on guitar, Frank DiMino on vocals, Greg Giuffria on keyboards and Mickey Jones on bass. Their self-titled debut album, Angel, released in 1975, was an excellent bit of heavy pomp rock, and their lyrics dealt with battles and events in history. They developed an exciting stage concept which was based on the pure colour of white with various illusions and effects and this won them many fans. Their second album, "Helluva Band", released in 1976, featured one of their best tracks, the lengthy "The Fortune Tower ", was most notable as one of their few tunes to grace the air waves. Our featured album saw Angel adopt a more pop/rock sound and introduced a novel logo which read identically when upside down. Micky Jones was later replaced by Felix Robinson and featured on the follow-up album, "White Hot", also released in 1977, along with On Earth As It Is In Heaven. In 1979, Angel were involved in the movie "Foxes" with Cherie Currie , but were later dropped by Casabalanca because of lack of sales. The group split in 1980 after the "Live Without A Net" live album, with Giuffria forming his own outfit with guitarist Craig Goldy, bassist Chuck Wright and drummer Alan Krigger. Giuffria also later featured in House of Lords.
Angel reformed in the late nineties with two original members: Barry Brandt and Frank DiMino. A new album, "In the Beginning", was released in 1999. The album included contributions from various musicians as well guest appearances by Punky Meadows and Felix Robinson. Since then Angel has continued to tour and has been invited to perform at several major festivals including Sweden Rock and Bang Your Head. The current lineup includes: Frank DiMino, Barry Brandt, guitarist Steve Blaze (Lillian Axe/Near Life Experience), keyboardist Michael T. Ross (Lita Ford/Hardline) and bassist Randy Gregg (Thin Lizzy/Lauren Harris).
In 2008 Lovember Records reissued “On Earth As It Is In Heaven” as a Limited Edition. The album has been digitally remastered and includes a 16-page booklet with liner notes by journalist Dave Reynolds (Classic Rock Magazine/Kerrang), a track-by-track run down by singer Frank DiMino, all lyrics and unreleased photos.
In 2018, Meadows and Dimino toured together under the moniker 'Punky Meadows and Frank Dimino of Angel' performing a set of classic Angel songs and solo cuts. They are backed by a band featuring Danny Farrow on rhythm guitar, Charlie Calv on keyboards, Steve Ojane on bass and Billy Orrico on drums. In 2019, with the same lineup the band reformed back to the name "Angel" returning to wearing all white and released a new album "Risen" which had rave reviews and charted on multiple Billboard charting positions.

Broken Dreams
Angel Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Sitting by the door alone
She's left me once again,
Cheap wigs and long black hose.
It's an every night affair,
With someone new she says
I've lost my taste for toys
I bring joys to little boys.
She puts on her brand new face
Her baby blues and long white lace
She turns to hug and hold me tight
Whatever soothes me in my fright.
She's gonna soon be leaving town,
With some other man she's found
She tells me I'm a big boy now,
And just be a little, little proud.
Mother can't you see what I need??
Mother can't you hear when I plead??
Broken hearts and broken dreams,
Are what I've made my life it seems
Little children soon grow old
So that's what I'm taught and told
I can't explain the pains I hide
No matter how I try and try
Everything I do seems wrong,
Ever since the day I was born.
Mother can't you see what I need??
Mother can't you hear when I plead??
Wipe the tears away from my face,
As I turned and walked from that place
Leave my past behind without a trace
Looking back I'm older now
Seems I might have cried too loud
It took too long to see
I was the one to set me free
Some people say I'm looking good
And for my age I really should
I'm just an old man on the brink
And maybe that's the way that they think.
The lyrics of Angel's song Broken Dreams are a lamentation of a jaded man who has lost his way in life. The opening lines reveal a sense of loneliness and despair, where the singer is left alone, with nothing but memories of a failed relationship. The use of "cheap wigs and long black hose" suggests that the woman in question is a prostitute, and the singer seems to be trapped in an unhealthy cycle of dependency on her. He wishes for his mother's attention and help, perhaps as a way to fill the void left by his lost love.
As the song progresses, the singer describes his failed attempts at finding happiness and stability in his life. He mentions his inability to connect with others, and the futility of his efforts. The phrase "broken hearts and broken dreams" encapsulates the thought behind the song, that sometimes, no matter how hard one tries, life has a way of breaking you down. The song ends on a hopeful note, with the singer accepting his past and moving on.
Overall, Angel's Broken Dreams is a poignant portrayal of the pain and struggles of life, and the ultimate triumph of the human spirit in the face of adversity.

Looking out my window pane,
I'm staring blankly through the glass, lost in thought
Sitting by the door alone
I'm trying to fill the void with a familiar space
She's left me once again,
My lover has departed from me repeatedly
Cheap wigs and long black hose.
She has changed her appearance and mannerisms
It's an every night affair,
This pattern has become a habit
With someone new she says
She introduces me to a new partner each time
I've lost my taste for toys
I'm no longer interested in childish things
I bring joys to little boys.
I have a habit of pleasing younger men
She puts on her brand new face
She changes her identity for each new companion
Her baby blues and long white lace
Her eyes are large and innocent, she disguises herself as pure
She turns to hug and hold me tight
She tries to comfort me with physical touch
Whatever soothes me in my fright.
She offers solace when I am scared and vulnerable
She's gonna soon be leaving town,
She plans to relocate with her latest lover
With some other man she's found
She has replaced me with a new romantic partner
She tells me I'm a big boy now,
She condescends to me as if I'm a child
And just be a little, little proud.
She expects me to have some dignity and self-worth
Mother can't you see what I need??
I ask for parental guidance and support
Mother can't you hear when I plead??
I beg for emotional attention and validation
Broken hearts and broken dreams,
The emotional damage I carry with me
Are what I've made my life it seems
My experiences have shaped my identity
Little children soon grow old
Youthfulness fades quickly
So that's what I'm taught and told
Society instills these values in me
I can't explain the pains I hide
I can't articulate the depth of my inner turmoil
No matter how I try and try
I have attempted to express myself repeatedly
Everything I do seems wrong,
All my actions appear to be misguided
Ever since the day I was born.
My existence has been fraught with difficulty
Wipe the tears away from my face,
I cry involuntarily and need comfort
As I turned and walked from that place
I move on from my experiences on my own
Leave my past behind without a trace
I try to forget and leave my history behind
Looking back I'm older now
I reflect on my journey and how far I've come
Seems I might have cried too loud
I may have made a spectacle of myself
It took too long to see
I was blind to my own potential for too long
I was the one to set me free
I empowered myself to break free of my hardships
Some people say I'm looking good
Others compliment my appearance and newfound freedom
And for my age I really should
Considering my age and past struggles, I'm doing well
I'm just an old man on the brink
I see myself as vulnerable and close to the end of my life
And maybe that's the way that they think.
Others may see me as insignificant or nearing the end of my usefulness

Nick DeCastro
Definitely not more talented than KISS
Michael Scott
Well Kiss refused to let Angel open for them, so even Kiss knew Angel were better than they were! Made sense for labelmates to tour together but Kiss knew that Angel would upstage them every night so they weren't having that!
